| If injury prone Hodgson is as bad a signing as the injury prone Morley, Carvell and Solomona signings have turned out despite all the warnings from know-it-all smart-alec opposition fans then I guess I'll live with it.

| Awesome signing.
I am really amazed the Hudds didn't keep him for 2 years.
Attacks, defends, takes the high ball, kick goals.
Absolutely fantastic.

| Quote ="getdownmonkeyman"So 30/31 is okay, but not 32? Pretty sure Lam had suffered a broken leg and Smith did his cruciate not too far prior to siging.
So a player misses a few games after a clean season previously and he is injury prone? Does that make Roberts injury prone? Is Cameron Phelps injury prone?
To compare a straight line is the usual rule of thumb, not sound waves.'"
To compare such players to Brett Hodgson is laughable. All 4 where highly rated International star quality players with 3 or 4 years ahead of them. Craig Smith and David Furner went on to play for other teams after they left Wigan! Lam and Furner where in the State Of Origin series the season before they joined us and on the right side of 30, which means we got 2/3 good years out of them. Lam only Suffered an injury in his last season 2003 when we had to play Luke Robinson instead of him in the final, and that was only towards the end of the season against you men at Wire if I remember in the last league game between Wigan v Wire.
I haven't said any opinion on the Hodgson signing but to compare them to those 4 is ridiculous. You could have easily have picked some other shockers we've had since then though!

He has one of the highest error rates, and highest missed tackle counts of any fullback in Superleague.

That is my whole point. Smith's last season in the NRL prior to coming to SL resulted in him missing around 50% of the available games, Lam 25% the season prior to that. Both Lam and Smith were 31 on debut. Furner being 30.

Smith was 31, but Lam and Furner were 30. All were very good trainers Smith in particular.
Hodgson according to Jamahl Lolesi "Is the worst trainer at Huddersfield and gets away with murder because of his age"
Hodgson by the way had the highest number of errors in Superleague last year.

And where did that get us signing all those 30 year olds? We were competetive yes but we only won 1 trophy while most of them were here, then when they all left at the same time we were left up sh*t creek without a paddle. Only just recovering from it now!

| Brett Hodgson is a great signing on the face of it.
But aren't any of you genuinely worried about signing a player that will be 33 before he plays for you, has only played 7 of 17 games for Hudds this season and is now out for another month?
This is a genuine question as we signed Long who was pretty much in the same position and has hardly played for us.

| If people listen to Smith on the radio i/v.. he clearly states that BH will be looked after and not over played so it's not like he is being brought in as our main go-to man. We have a few players who can play FB to a good level and Hodgson is more about buying the complete package. Its about passing on his knowledge and methods to players like Burke, Evans et al who will hopefully be coming through next year and the year after.
I have 0 worries on this one being an astute signing.

| I`m not normally a fan of signing players of this age especially when we have quite a few players already hovering around the 30+ age group, but in saying that if Rhys Evans is as good as people say he is then its a smart move from Tony Smith.
Brett Hodgson doesn`t play like a player in the latter years of his career, he still looks fresh and his performances speak for themselves. It gives Rhys Evans the chance to learn from a proven world class fullback whilst he continues his development as a player, at the same time we get a recent man of steel winner in our line up. The only slight negative is his injuries, he seems to have picked up a few in recent times.
