There's a thread on this site bemoaning the boring rugby that's being served up at present and yet it would appear that some people are willing to put up with more blandness as long as it results in silverware.

I'm sorry, but that's not for me. I want to be entertained, I want us to be acknowledged as a team that plays exciting rugby and if silverware is the result, then that's great.

I don't remember Wigan being boring under Maguire, just dirty tactics, lots of interference etc. With the right talent directing attack on the field, I feel we'd be very good under Maguire.

However, I'm sure Wigan would be the first on the list for him bearing in mind Wane probably won't achieve much for them this year and will likely face the chop. I feel they'll be more ruthless than us and won't accept mediocrity, or dare I say it the threat of relegation...

I wonder why you think this? Or am I missing some Sally Cinnamon-like irony here? The club's current position is costing the owners money and mental energy. On top of that each of them is himself a dedicated Wire fan. Neither of them being impulsive, short-term thinkers, they have not replaced the coaching staff by a knee-jerk swap for Chris Chester, Ian Watson, Michael Monaghan or one of the other unproven but immediately available options that have seriously been put forward on this board. Plus, would a successful coach come to Wire were we to be relegated? Is it not likely that an appointment would only be confirmed once SL status is preserved? Would it be a good idea to announce a conditional appointment in such circumstances where relegation would mean that the new coach's deal is then cancelled? This has been a long and frustrating season but the end of it will bring some important changes.

My thoughts are based on the fact that our best year was 2011 & subsequent years have seen a steady downward spiral of our quality which has been masked by a decline in the quality of the game in general.I know we have had CC success & 3 visits to Old Trafford ,but what has been allowed to happen this year is inexcusable. We have all seen the decline of the product over the last 6 years but what matters most to us is our club, & i suppose ,apart from just blaming coaching staff &/or players, we could also wonder what interest the top management actually have in the club to tolerate this situation. As i've said previously,fancy spotlights ,dancers & Warrington's got talent winners winners won't fill a stadium.Effort on the field & the feeling among the fans that they have been entertained is the key to that. As far as i am concerned,Wire silverware has always been thin on the ground so that is not really top of my list, i am just happy with a good open game & ,win or lose,& the effort has been put in from all sections of the club from players to top management.

I would guess 90% of the Board are waiting for the end of the season and then expecting TS's departure to be announced. It would seem a logical point to part company and provide the off-season for the new coach to settle in and import a couple of his own players. That of course assumes SJM has located a suitable replacement, I would guess a lot of head coaches in the NRL would not view a UK job as their first choice. Probably similar to the Aussie rugby stars, which is why we mostly get 30 year olds finishing off their careers and topping up their pensions. So I suppose we are looking at either an up and coming deputy coach or someone that has fallen off the NRL magic roundabout.

League weekly Nosey Parker as M Monaghan coming back as assistant to TS.

What i can't understand with Smith is that the team & club have been on a steady decline for several years,but TS has such a laid back, almost comatose, outlook on the situation, that he seems oblivious to the fact that the good ship Wire is fast heading for the plug hole & taking his future employment prospects with it. Time to man up Captain Smith,get up off the sun lounger & urgently kick some booty in the dressing room, if that is where the problem lies.

Its been established that Smith doesn't carry out many of the training sessions, leaving it to Agar.

Last thing we need is to continue with a part time coach alongside our part time chairman. We need a new person controlling the Rugby side in full, as it stands it's all through Smith who has all the Charisma and attitude of a potato.

Latest rumour is that Warrington are talking to Jonny Lomax from Saints, not a good signing at all for me.

That makes no sense,he signed an extension not so long back, even when he knew Barba was coming.
