But why should he get any!!, Getting really frustrated over some of the issues being raised at the moment. There are lots of high tackles every game and although i agree there shouldnt be, why pick one example and make an issue out of it, either punish all or none

| Just a thought but is it worth emailing the RFL with some constructed critiscism and letting them know the errors of their ways? Anyone know how to start a petition that can be sent to them?

Gotcha. A civil action, he would have to show loss or damage though caused by the other party, on the balance of probability, which would fall outside of the norm for participating in contact sport.
I'm sure I read a football player successfully sued an opponent following a reckless tackle which ended in a broken leg and effectively ended his career.

| RFL = Inconsistent.
This is the most frustrating concern I have.

| Just out of interest, if Mathers had committed the same action whilst playing for Wigan, against us, would we fervently defend his action with the same rigour considering his previous record?

I'm not sure its the fact Mathers is being disciplined, more the fact that Pryce and Cunningham seem to get away with splitting peoples mouths open and breaking peoples eyesockets.
The RFL are far too inconisistent and I think this is why people are getting frustrated.

Was just about to post something similar.
I've not seen the incident but after watching Mathers during his time with Wigan i know it'll have been a mistake and not a malicious attack as he's not that sort of player.
He has though got previous due to bad technique and plenty on here wanted him banned for 10 games+ after the King incident last season. He got another red card after that and a ban and then got banned again at the start of this season whilst at Wigan so i can see why any challenge from Mathers will see him looking at a ban.
As for Cunningham everybody knows he should have got a ban but because of who he is he gets away with it.

Spot on.
I read somewhere how a player in the other code did this and won damages for a broken jaw caused by a head high shot.
It was said at the time that this would clean up the game by itself as assault was just that be it on the rugby field or in the street.

Yes. That would be a criminal legal action rather than civil though.
