| Tonga v PNG was a great game last night, but for a couple of moments PNG could have won that.

It looked like Tonga were going to run away with it when they scored twice late on in the first half. PNG found a way to get back into the game, but not quite enough to get the win. Enjoyable game to watch.

| Williams is having another great game. And another run as Captain. If the Laybutt rumour is true we’re not looking too shabby for next season, as long as the forwards live up to their billing.

| Williams has had two good games so far. England weren't quite as ruthless as they were against Samoa and may have a ban or two come the next disciplinary meeting. Job done, but we need to more focused for the full game when the QF's start.

| Agreed, we weren't really as good as we were last week, but credit to France though, who were pretty good I thought. If france keep building like they are, then we could have some meaningful games in a tri series vs France and an exiles team?
Williams was brilliant again for us, if powell can't get a tune from Williams he needs to go.

| What I have noticed about this World Cup is the amount of freestyle off-the-cuff rugby. It’s almost like a return to the early days of super league. For the last decade the entertainment value of Super League has dropped dramatically for me, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way.
I hope we see more of this stuff next season.

There's also a feeling of being able to watch a game without the frustration that went with our last league season, and I'm really looking forward to Tuesday's game.

| Went to yesterdays match, really enjoyed it.
A few thoughts
1)Bolton is a really good stadium from a being able to see the pitch point of view
2) The traffic into the area is a disaster. Massive queues. Thankfully I had learned my lesso from our CC Semi final there so left much earlier but was still sweating on the motorway slip road.
3) As a game we just don’t get the atmosphere going at internationals and importing a football band didn’t really change that.
4) Williams is a class act and we need to get more from him next season (yes I’m looking at you Mr Powell)
5) England have the backs to actually trouble Aus/NZ for the first time in a very long time!

| Agreed over the less structured play, also a lot less head injuries suspected hia's in the games that I've watched, so whether that means the tackling is different/ better.
I went to Victoria Park today, in a weird way, rhe England Australia game was the most entertaining game of a a pretty good week.
If you can get down for the rest of the games, give it a go.

I'm not sure that's true. Barring Dom Young perhaps their isn't another back who would get into the Aus/NZ team. Also apart from Young and Williams the backs, on paper, look very average.

I don’t think Young would get into the Aus team (maybe in a season or two), but I also think our own back line has a lot more natural talent than say, 10 years ago. I think it’s pretty decent and good enough to compete. Aus and NZ arguably on a different level though.
I am more excited about the prospects of facing either in the final than I have been in the past. Possibly because we look like a more exciting team who will try to attack in more ways than we have previously. Maybe we will get lucky and the weather will be a leveller.

| We looked better with Welsby at half back than we did with Sneyd, who I think was included against France for his goal kicking in the absence of Makinson. I reckon that we'll line up with Welsby and Makinson, going forward. We will most likely play PNG/Cook Islands in the QF, then Samoa/Tonga in the SF, which gives us a massive opportunity to face Aus/NZ in a one-off final. The actual comp doesn't really start until the last eight, but I hope it's as enjoyable as what I've seen to date. There's been some flashes of skill in most teams, for example the Greek's try against Samoa. A lot to look forward to, and I hope we don't get any boring stalemates, like the final of 2017.

Ackers seemed to favour sneyd's call more after he came on

Do you think so? These were our backs for the 2013 World Cup. I think only Farnworth and Young get in this team out of the current crop.

| Went to the PNG v Cook Islands game the other night with my son. It was an enjoyable evening, with a competitive, combative and entertaining 80 minutes. Laybutt stood out and must have run Martin close to MoM. He'd offer what we need in a half back over Drinkwater in my opinion. I've been to the odd game with my son when he was a child, but it's the first time he's said that he'd like to go to another game in the future.

| Amazing what a bit of confidence can do. After a scrappy start Scotland scored ,started to believe & competed. Turned out an enjoyable watch in the end though pretty scrappy throughout.

| I thought the PDRL final was a very enjoyable watch. Interesting interview with Shaun Briscoe at the end. He didn't go into specifics but it sounds like there are some things going on behind the scenes that he's quite frustrated about.
