| Quote ="Bunkaib"Good result today and that what really mattered, thought we might get it today with the players Hull had out but still have to perform and that's been lacking so happy.
I was surprised that Swift had the beating of Thewlis for his try and know how difficult it is to chase back but just surprised me a little.
Good display from Dufty and we saw Williams when a pack is dominant at his best, some good defence and hopefully the confidence will help us in the run in and help us lower our error count.
Our next year's back up Hooker (Dwyer) trying to use his one trick worries me a little of what depth he will bring.
Also super happy they didn't have Josh Griffin in the team today that Magic Weekend still smarts.
So onward for Castleford next.'"
I noticed that regarding Thewlis. I thought he had more pace.
From the higlights, Dufty looked dangerous.

I like the optimism, but I think Wigan will win the GF and we'll be nowhere near it.

| Realistically, there was nothing on display to show that we could go on and win it. The main improvement was that there was a bit of desire, particularly to scramble in defence. But, caveat that with that the defence was breached often enough for that scramble to be necessary.
Still, conceded one try off our own error. Scored with some creativity. Still in our own hands if we make the 6. It’s something to cling on to, but it’s the hope that kills you with this club

Thewlis more or less had his back to Swift but he and Dufty together did enough to ensure the certain try wasn’t 6 points. Perhaps you missed that? Dwyer was probably the most liveliest player in the Hull team imo.
Hull were well beaten by Wire. Our pack floored them and Williams and Dufty shined.
I have to give credit to Richard Marshall. There is steel is in our defence that has been missing for a long time.

| I've just seen the clips of the tries.
When did either side sign somebody called [iForward[/i?
The Hull fans kept shouting his name. Can't remember him being mentioned in the match day squads.

They signed him from St Helens at the end of last year. Saints signed his younger brother for the start of this season, hence the continued regular shouts of forward from Saints fans this season.

No you are wrong as can be proved by bothering to watch the video.
https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/s ... highlights
Thewlis was level with Swift and facing the same direction. In fact he hesitated tackling him initially.
Swift outpaced him dramatically
Thewlis wasnt in the video frame when Swift scored in fact I think he stopped chasing.
Maybe Thewlis is injured I am not making anything of it but we do need to make our comments accurate.

| Re the Swift try ,i think we should be more concerned about the wayward pass that gave away possession than Thewlis's lack of speed.

| Some good stats from yesterday. Mikaele making a big impact and in fairness to Powell he unearthed a good un with Harrison. It also bodes well that one phone call from Burgess has certainly reinvigorated Dufty.

According to Abe Froman just now, Dwyer has NOT signed for us, and Ratchford will be playing 9 next season along with Walker.

Relatively happy with this. Ratchford still has value as a utility player, and will conveniently always be available on the bench if he's spelling Walker. Once we'd committed to signing him up for another two years, we needed a way to utilise him.
I wonder who will partner Wrench at centre?

I'd be surprised if Wrench is in next years plans. He was picked on the wing last week for the Reserves with Darbyshire & Miniken in the centres. If he was in line to play first team centre it would be a strange thing to do.

| I'm struggling to remember a game wrench played for the first team where he was poor. Idiotic decision if we get rid of him. Saints will probably be sniffing around him.

Dwyer might be ok for the odd run, but the rest of his game is shocking.
Against you, whilst he made good metres he also missed 8 tackles and made 3 errors, this doesn't include he poor passes and wrong selection, lost count of the times he has gone the wrong way and gone himself.
Against Wigan he missed 10 tackle, 4 errors and 4 penalties against him.
The negative he brings are far out weighing his positives, if you have managed to not sign him, you have dodged a bullett, can't see which SL club would sign him, maybe Fev if they come up?
On the game, we can too many forwards out and your forwards laid a good platform for the likes of Duffty and Williams. Be intresting if Powell was still in charge would you have beaten us?
