We could match them in the arm wrestle but their decision making and last plays wer far superior. They also made far fewer errors. The GB tactic of a bomb on the 5th (if they actually got to the 5th) is awful, we asked no questions of the kiwis whatsoever. We're easy to play against, just like the wire. Both coaches should go for me, it's a playbook that needs burning and consigning to history.

Agree with you CW8 The playbook shouldn't take long to burn as it consisted of "forwards, charge at the posts" and "kick it in the air on the 5th".

This. Price's style of play from June onward, doesn't fill me with any confidence that we'll make better use of Widdop, either.

Both NZ games we have had more energy and enthusiasm in the last 20 when Daryl comes on. He should start next week for me.

Widdop kicks on last are guided by how far up the field we get. His kicks in last 20 mins show more promise for us next year. As I said in previous post Clark on seems to get us further up the field giving Widdop more option of kick.

Clark is by far the best hooker available. I don't really want to alert the NRL to how good he is though ideally.

Bennett must take his share of the blame for an inept squad and team selection.
For all the talk of a great team spirit and his man management, I don't believe it.

Players too have not been up to it, especially the halves.
We've been out muscled and made far too many mistakes.

After a complete whitewash I really don’t see a justifiable reason on Bennett continuing after this.

We gave up 2nd half. Very, very disappointing. Time for a change at the top.

Awful watching, very much like watching Wire. No ideas, loads of errors and fell apart as soon as they're behind. 2 coaches cut from the same cloth, both have some impressive stats on their cv, both make their teams solid, albeit boring, predictable and bereft of any ideas. Those players are so much better than the performances, the squad selection was pathetic and so nrl based its as though the selectors haven't watched any superleague all year.

British Rugby League is in serious need of an injection of flair. It's so bloody tedious

So the pendulum will swing again: "we need a British coach to inspire them with British passion", just like the end of David Waite's era when we brought in Noble and when McNamara followed TS.

So who is going to be in line for the job?

Ian Watson is the assistant coach and so should be the logical choice and he could be a Gareth Southgate style appointment who does well despite being not a big name.

I have a feeling that Brian McDermott is going to want to focus on Toronto, we don't know about Shaun Wane's availability. Personally I would go for Daryl Powell.

I think the other guy who will be in the frame will be Richard Agar who ticks the boxes, coach of a big club, been around the game a while, lots of references from others inside the game to say he's a great coach etc.

Whoever it is, I expect the verdict on their 3 or 4 years as coach to be:
- had too many 'favourites' from the 'big clubs'
- played players out of their normal positions
- had one or two points where we looked like we were closing the gap but at the point they left we looked as far away as ever

for reference: see Noble, McNamara, Goodway before that...

it's been THAT bad, that the people at the top might might wholesale changes here... Toronto coming in, signing SBW on massive money at the same time we have this catastrophe... RL could go big on cap space... Let teams spend alot more on wages.

if a rich man wants to come into RL.... throw a load of money at players... Thats absolutely fine by me.

Our game has been dwindling for years really... The last 5 years has seen a real downturn in quality... All across the leagues.

Time for big changes. They are going to have to lift the shackles off the salary cap if the game is to recover i think....

Better wages for everyone, better standard of import's, clubs/owners allowed to go big if they want... lets just throw all our cards on the table and see what happens.

and bring back the shoulder charge.
