| Wouldnt be surprised to see him leave before the season starts. Hes had a decent season for us to be fair to him....carried us in a lot of game when our Marquee was found wanting. But for me, has just not done it in the big games (finals especially), against the good sides. He was MIA on Saturday. I heard over the weekend that we had a big offer turned down for Luke Gale, and have made numerous approaches. Not sure how true that is...if so, it does tell us the Price knows that he needs an out and out number 7 for next season.....

| Whether Brown goes this season or next the club recognise that we will need a replacement. Brown has just turned 34 and I think that many people were expecting that the 2018 season would have been his last (nor would many have predicted that he would play in 33 matches). Quality halfbacks are a scarce commodity and we've struggled for the last 5 seasons during which time we've tried Myler, Gidley, Sandow, Brown and Roberts in various combinations as our starting pair with Patton, O'Brien and Livett in support. Being on the lookout for a quality half should be an on-going activity.

Interesting as you're normally very reliable. Encouraging to hear.

| Would Cas accept £1m for Trueman do you think? Middleton wanted to put £1m into the club - that would be ideal use of that money and Trueman would be well worth that money I think.

I'd take Gale in a heartbeat but agree if we're shopping at Cas we need to be looking at Trueman, in my opinion.

| I was told months ago that part of the deal in Brown coming to Wire was there would be a position on the coaching staff for him once he hung up his boots.

| Well that's positive news, the same with me as i don't wish him bad but he's not the guy to take us forward. Not sure why we'd make a play for Gale when Drinkwater is available? But yeah at least if this is true Price is hunting us a playmaker

Bah that’s a shame. Personally I think he would be the perfect addition. Great goal kicker, great in game kicker, great passer and backs up well. Could be our 7 for the next 5 years.

| On Trueman, do we really want another 'good prospect'? Our halfback problems need resolving NOW not in 5 years time.

| Trueman is not a 'prospect' - he's already pretty much there as the best British half-back in SL IMO. Even if you consider that a stretch at the minute, I'm pretty confident in a year or two he will be, he's got an excellent rugby brain. We should throw everything at getting him even if Cas, rightly, refuse all offers.

Most times he has come up against decent opposition, he hasnt played well. I want him to succeed at wire like i'm sure all of us do.....but do you honestly think he is good enough for where wire aspire to be?? I.e Champions? not for me im afraid. Good, but not good enough......

| I dont quite get the love in with southern hemisphere halfbacks in SL in particular Australian half backs
From memory when you look back at the grand final winning halfbacks out of about 40 winning halves only about 4 of them were southern hemisphere players.
Blake Green
Joel Moon
leuluai
Robbie Paul
Those 3 kiwi's had spent a lot of time at the club that they won a winners ring with - not just here on a 2 year deal.
Even on the losing grand finalists there are not that many Aussie halfbacks.
Have a think of some of the halfbacks that have come over here and not picked up a winners ring compared with some of the British halfbacks that have.
Matty Johns
Adrian Lam
Brett Finch
Trent Barrett
luke walsh
Stacey Jones
Gidley
Sandow
Roberts
Was Danny Maguire or Shaun Long more talented than them.
Unless Cooper Cronk or Thurstan fancies fullfilling a life long dream of being able to visit blackpool or the lake district on their days off then i say forget about Drinkwater and get a young British player who will do whatever it takes to win a grand final for warrington and stick with them.
I think commitment, will to win (for warrington) and building an understanding with the players so timings of runs/ pass selection becoming second nature is more important than a quick fix.
I would be willing to wait 2 years whilst said player built that understanding if it then meant winning 3 GF in the following 5 years.
I will happily eat these words if Austin and Drinkwater take us to GF glory in 2019 though.

its not just about having a great half back pairing though...the pack HAS to be good as well...behind a beaten back, God himself would struggle at scrum half. The balance has to be there....good pack & bad halves or bad pack & good halves...still = runners up.

So this is an argument for Patton. I don't doubt his commitment or his will to win and you think he would have an understanding with the players. He also has grand final experience.
