| So far born again Bailey has been a revelation & what a different player he is when not being a wind up merchant, can't wait to see his name on the Nobel peace prize. There were some good performances out there last night & it is good to see the club's enforced youth policy of the last few seasons is bearing fruit.
I would love to see Cunningham succeed at Saints though because the club runs through his veins & i'm sure the result would have been much closer with him on the pitch ,but great players don't always make great coaches.

| Quote ="jj86"Thought we had some stinking decisions go against us tonight. Last 30 were very dull but sounds like we needed to rest a few and can't complain as I would take a dull 30 minutes every week if we defend like that.
Did very well missing some very important forwards. Missed Sims quick play the balls too.'"
very true especially the kick to touch which hit the touchline, have i imagined it but in previous games some decisions have been reversed when shown on the screen,if so why was the scrum in our half not theres..also did the sky team mention our injury list at any time like they did with wigan and leeds.as regards to the match we won with out getting in to top gear..saints can be thankful for that..

In addition although the action was at our end in the first half I never felt like we were going to concede points a combination of great defence and a woeful Saints performance happy days.
I agree with an FMC post somewhere on these boards that the delay for the injury took a bit of momentum away from us and possibly saved Saints from a defeat of bigger margins

| Watching the game back this morning and it would seem, according to Eddie, that we will never have a better chance to become champions. Not because of Hill, Currie, Gidley, Sandow, etc, but because almost everyone else this year is crap (or words to that effect). We must play different opponents to everyone else in the league as I haven't heard him mention that when talking up Hull or wigan.

| Quite apposite, regarding the events of this morning.
Last night's first half performance was almost [irope-a-dopelike[/i. Let Stains put loads of pressure on our line, then...bang. Repeat this twice more, and the fight just sapped out of Stains.
To be honest, I couldn't care less that we didn't put them to the sword. We just kept them at arms length, without even getting into 4th gear, let alone 5th. That's all we needed to do. No need for a cricket score, or a nilling. Let's leave that for the kids playing Top Trumps. Stains knew they were thrashed.
Job done.

| Yes the score flattered Saints. They were well and truly battered in all aspects.
What likely kept the score lower was the adoption of early tackle Sandow kicks. Around had a dozen on the third tackle and a one or two from Ratchford when Sandow dissappeared (more game management).
A very unusual tactic from a Wire team.
We purposesly gifted Saints so much early possession and invited them into a battle of attrition.
KC wrongly understanding what his "lions share of possession" really meant.

| I thought that was a very NRL esque performance.
Defend well, quick line speed with 3 sometimes 4 in every tackle, basic exit sets, slowing the game down when in control. Very very professional performance, something i think we should more often.

| Getting a good start in games is useful when you get enough daylight between the teams to start trying moves for vital end of season games.

| The SKY commentary team mentioned several times that Luke Walsh wasn't playing. At one point, Eddie added "Yeah, and Makinson and Percival and errr..." Funny that no one then chipped in to say Wire were missing Russell, Penny, Sims, Westwood, Hughes, Dodds...

I can't bear the commentary, I put sound on mute. I did try listening to the radio but the commentary on that was ahead of the pictures so it's "the sound of silence" for me!

Frank Spencer would be a good signing for Saints at present.

After attending the game then watching the game back I made point of watching the the build up.. All that came out of Hemmings mouth was how Saints have this hold over us in Super League.. How they always turn up against Wire and how he wouldn't be surprised to see them turn us over.. Valid points ? Possibly .. But when we took control in game he then started to bemoan Saints injury problems... Just like he did when we beat Wigan..
It used to annoy me but now I love it..

Not if you believe the rumours. He's taking Travis Burns's wages apparently. He's not the player he looked like he might become and wasn't wanted at Canberra. He only moved there because the Roosters didn't want him and released him. He's not been on stellar money in the NRL and we're not competing with anyone for his signature.

What happened with Burns? Did he run over Cunninghams cat?

I don't honestly know. It can't be anything too severe otherwise the club would have jumped at the chance to sack him and release him from his contract. Cunningham clearly hates him though, relegating him to the reserves throughout his spell with us. Although he's not been spectacular, he's been no worse than 95% of our players and clearly puts the required effort in. His performances for the reserves have also been universally praised, so not sure. He had another thinly veiled dig at him in the papers today saying that the next signings for Saints will 'bring us to the promised land' and that the club won't panic like it has in the past when players have signed and he's looked at them and wondered why they were even at the club.
