| Hill was immense as usual, Matty Russell was very good, thought Westerman had a good second half...and Sandow...WOW what a kick...sheer brilliance from the guy, Happy days indeed.

| Wow, what a comeback I never saw that coming at 12-30. Amazing last kick and I particularly enjoyed sims try. Fact remains though our defence in the first half was mick poor, we won't get away with defending that softly very often.
Second half was incredible, great character not throwing in the towel. i wish I put £20 on Sandow for man of steel in the off season.

| Well it's nice to see a bit of excitement from a Wire side after the last couple of years, everyone must have been on the edge of their seats at the end, - I nearly fell off my wheelchair when Sandow kicked that goal. But that first half was a worry with some really poor defending that gifted Salford 2 tries. And we also gave away too many penalties. In contrast Salford looked very Aussie-like, completing all their sets (did they waste any ?) and working really hard. Staggering to see the second half unfold though. We must have completed far more tackles than them, yet we still managed to turn the screw and get back into the match without using Jullien and only allowing Dodds a very short run out. There must be some seriously fit people in our squad this year (although 'dog' was looking knackered at the end).
Similar to the Anthony England experiment, I guess that is the end of the Wheeler one. Got to feel sorry for the guy.
Finally, surely we can look forward to a much better year than 2015 ? We had Westwood, Gidley and Clarke out. Plus we used Ratch and Dodds who were far from match fit, and there was nobody around to tell jokes in the pack as Cox bailed out with an upset tummy.

| Quote ="BuckleyStreetWire"The Sky team would have been gutted with that. Clarke's been told to calm the 'Wigan' down in him so now he's a Salford fanatic; excitable Wells says he's "sweet on Salford" this season and said they'd win; and Warringtonian but clearly not a Wire, Eddie, will be going home in a mood after that!haha
Well what a comeback it was and what a finish by Sandow. It was harder to drop that goal than kick the penalty he had a minute earlier. Great drama!
Though trip to Perpignan next but tails should be high and Gidley should be back.'"
Spoke to Phil Clarke and Jon wells before the game, Clarke tipped us to win, but I'm more than happy with Wells as I spoke to him at the Leeds game and he tipped them to win.well he tipped Salford for this one, I asked him to keep tipping against us.

| Of course, you could have written the script. Having lavished Hicks with praise for his handling of the Cas Hull game, he went out to prove me wrong by having a erratic, inconsistent stinker. Until he finally ran out of puff for his whistle, it looked like the game was going to be decided on who received the most penalties, where and when, as opposed to skill, desire and fitness.
The sin-binnings, the decision to penalise Atkins for the "shoulder-charge" (it may have been a shoulder charge but if we are going to penalise tackles like that we'll make premiership football look like death race 2000), his policing of the PTB and offisde, he refereed the second half totally differently to the first.
Having said that I did enjoy him telling Tomkins to put a ***ing sock in it, you snivelling little pond floor-dweller. Well, I like to imagine that's broadly what he said.

| Impressed with Currie tonight. Really stood up, showed a side we probably haven't seen before. Kept Masila in his pocket most of the game, don't like what he did to get sin binned but thought it was harsh considering it happens every game. Came back on and made his mark.
Russell my MoM, Hill good for the last 60, Sandow drop goal absolutely ridiculous. Not sure we deserved it, but we are 4 from 4, will need to be better in France, against a bigger pack.

| The last 30 minutes of the 2nd half was my most favourite 30 minutes of RL ever.
I have been to games that overall I have enjoyed more and meant more in terms of the result, but that last 30 minutes was the best segment of a game ever.

Here's one to keep an eye on, see how many other players get sin binned for poop stirring like currie did tonight, ruffling someone's hair after a penalty is worth a yellow card now ? Bull poop'"
Seems it's all down to the retaliation. James Tamou taps the Leeds player, Mitch Garrett retaliates and Tamou sees yellow. Currie ruffles someones hair, half the Salford squad retaliate and Currie sees yellow. The other week Pritchard smacks someone in the face at the play the ball (way way worse than Tamou and Currie combined), nobody retaliates so Pritchard gets away with a telling off and penalty against him.

Plenty of amateur dramatics to look forward to this year then!

| Big conundrum with selection now. Clearly Ratchford was not as good a partner to Sandow in the halves as Gids and I thought Russell was exceptional again and HAS to play, he just gets the team moving forward.

| Feel sorry for Wheeler, looks like his career is over! Chris Hill is constantly laying on and giving away stupid penalties which didn't help us first half, but what a display we came together and put on an amazing performance second half, can't wait to see Gids and Sandow back together next week, Russell definitely made a difference, overall I think we have a really good strong squad.

| A dramatic end to a poor game from our point of view. No aggression at in defence in the first 40, no direction and a lack of unity and effort. If that's what happens when Gidley is out we had better revise the "our year" suggestions. Westerman was poor, Evans again no point having him swap with Ratch, forwards giving needless penalties away giving the onus to the opposition. Poor Wheeler, deregister once and for all. Fair play to Currie never took a backward step against the man mountain. Russell was exceptional, Penny was his usual enthusiastic self and fair play with Russell helped the forwards with their runs and not forgetting Penny put a great stop on Junior Sau when he could have broke with no one behind Penny. We got away with it but we have to be much more organised, disciplined and aggressive to progress.

| Congratulations on your win last night. Your guys fought hard in the second half and that drop goal was excellent. It's a tough one for us to take and I personally think a draw would have been a fair result. I can imagine how buzzing you must be. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

| Salford have just been cited by the RFL for financial and salary cap irregularities in 2014 and 2015. No surprise there then.

| I must say , i felt sorry for O'Brien last night , he seemed to get clattered in nearly every tackle.
I thought Russell was excellent last night & Sandow ,apart from that sensational drop goal, proved once again what a great array of field kicks he has up his sleeve & is the definite replacement for Briers we have been lacking.I know he had his knockers ,including myself, but my own words a very tasty at the moment, & the boy has been a very shrewd signing by Smith. To say 3 of our tries were scored by forwards shows what a mobile pack we have & if fitness levels can be maintained we could do well.
As for Wheeler, if his latest injury does mean the end of his career ,then i think we should be in the market for a reserve hooker to cover for injuries.

| Great result and good display in the last 30 mins. World class drop goal.
Noticed that Lineham looked tired and unfit. He didn't have much ball but never helped out like Penny. Bring back Gene till he loses a few pound and wants to wear the shirt with pride!!!

We said the same thing, looked somewhat porky even if his nickname is the 'flying pig'.
His stats don't read well either.
PS Matty Russell made an outstanding 201 metres gained last night.

I suspect for next week, assuming no further injuries, it will be 3 out and 3 in with Gidley, Clark and Cox replacing Wheeler, King and Julien. Does leave Smith with a real issue with Russell playing so well. As you say, he can't be dropped. I suspect Ratchford will feature from the bench.
I couldn't go last night but noticed against Wakefield that Russell made 3 passes, all of which went backwards rather than forwards and to the intended recipient. That is probably 100% up on what he would have achieved last season. He seems to be picking up the skills Jack Johnson seems to possess naturally.

| Following on from Mark's point; if Russel stays at FB and Gidley partners Sandow as expected, then that only leaves the centre spot for Ratchford. Even if he comes off the bench I am not too sure where he will play. Evans needs a decent run of matches to see how he measures up. Atkins has picked up his performance and I don't think TS would drop him in any case. But I don't think we can afford to drop a talent like Ratchford. Unless there is an injury somewhere, it will be an intriguing selection problem for Smith.

I've always felt Ratchfords best position is centre. But wherever he plays its about time we had some competition for places.

| The second half certainly got the pulses going after a at times frustrating first I have to admit Salford contributed to all that as they played very well moving the ball about in good style at times, got to agree with all regarding fitness, stamina and mental toughness a real togetherness about the lads, Ratchford was very high in the tackle count for his first game, great to see Sandow enjoying his game kept us moving both left and right his kicking game and that drop what can I say.

He should replace Evans... Evans doesn't offer us anything in attack, just a solid defender.
