Where is the link with Eastmond reported?

| If this is true and we get the Ryan Bailey who Leeds fans refer to as sound defensively, hard working and able to get under the skin of the opposition I can live with that for a season as an addition to our front row. It does give us more depth and I'm sure he won't take up much cap space.
However, just to clarify, Bailey is not and never was an 'enforcer' so adding him to the squad does not give us additional 'biff' as some people think. Don't get me wrong, I haven't taken to him as a person from what I have seen in terms of his goading of opposition players and fans even after the final whistle in a game - he appears to lack class and grace. However, if I had to choose between adding him to the squad or not at this stage I would just tip for adding him, disappointing thought it feels.

| Quote ="Clearwing"Quote ="garyhulsefan"If he was in his full pomp maybe you'd allow it but he's just been rejected by Hull KR and Cas. Has he ever been an enforcer (and by that I mean enforcing without giving away a penalty/worse)?'"
Even at his best, he was never that. Penalty-wise, he won many more than he conceded. A good example is the much-loved vid of him being "owned" by Radford. What a lot of gleeful opposition fans tended to overlook were the facts that Bailey was unscathed, Radford was dismissed and Leeds won easily.
What he brought to the table was some very quick ptbs, a strong defensive effort with few missed tackles and the aforementioned ability to distract weak-minded opposition players. But it seems like aeons since he was doing that even for Leeds, let alone during his wilderness spells at hkr and cas.'"
Perfect summary - not flashy, won't break the line, and absolutely isn't an enforcer, but could be relied on as a safe pair of hands, good defender, and a good knack of gaining penalties for holding down, or for people falling for the niggle.... Played a limited, but specific role for Leeds, but hasn't been able to do that for a number of years - and most definitely has some questionable off field behaviours and habits....
One thing I don't understand is this 'cheap shot' and 'dirty' tag he's got... He gives away very few penalties (particularly for foul play) and has a pretty much exemplary disciplinary record for a prop.... What he is good at is 'old manning' players into having a pop at him - but he's never been dirty - people will struggle to think of many examples of him being dirty or cheap shots... Sure there'll be the odd example, but not enough to warrant the rep he has....
But, just to give my thoughts as a Leeds fan and someone who knows him personally - I think his time has passed and he'll struggle to get back to what he does best on the field (which as I said above was always limited, but fairly effective), and his off field lifestyle and persona mean he'll not add much positive to your teams culture. He's wasted what he had....

| Like I've said, if Smith signs him he needs to make sure we do something in 2016, otherwise I have zero faith in him, he has managed the transition very badly, makes me think he's only good with lifting an underachieving squad but useless at building one.

| Jesus, what a press release.
Warrington have announced the signing of Ryan Bailey, Dear Wire fans, we know he's been a prick, and we've told him, he's not allowed to be a prick here, and we've structured his contract thusly in case he does become a prick (much like gary wheeler's contract being around him being injured and ).
Ryan bailey says, i know i've been a prick, and i've been told clearly, i'm not allowed to be a prick here.

Quote Wolves beef up the pack.
Warrington Wolves have completed the signing of former Leeds Rhinos forward Ryan Bailey.
31 Year old Bailey joins the Club on a 1 year deal from 2016, the 6ft 4, 17 stone prop has won 6 Grand Finals and 3 World Club Challenge winners medals. Bailey who will bring beef upfront and big game experience to the Halliwell Jones Stadium, will also provide competition for places in the front row.
Head of Coaching and Rugby Tony Smith who coached Bailey at the Leeds Rhinos had this to say about the Wolves latest signing ‘It is no secret that Ryan has had a chequered past. However he is fully aware of the special conditions set out within his contract and the standards expected of all Warrington Wolves players. During my time coaching Ryan at Leeds we had a fantastic relationship and I never experienced any issues. He is fully aware that some of his past behaviours were unacceptable. However at times we need to give people a second chance. I have every faith that we can develop his game and see the solid and hardworking player I know he can be.
Ryan’s signature is not going to impact greatly on our salary cap but his experience and attributes will make him an extremely valuable squad player. I’ve spoken to the players and explained the rationale behind the signing, they were very supportive and look forward to working with Ryan in the upcoming season.'"
Quote am really excited by my move to the Warrington Wolves and working under Tony again. There is a strong and exciting squad being assembled for 2016. It is no secret that in the past I have had some issues, but all that is now behind me. I had some of my best form under Tony, I think he knows how to get the best out of me. I can’t wait to meet up with the boys, knuckle down and get stuck in to pre-season. I’d like to thank Tony and Warrington Wolves for this fantastic opportunity R.BAILEY'"

| So Bailey had some of his best form under Tony Smith. That's true but Smith left Leeds in 2007/8 therefore it's been 7 or 8 years since Bailey showed his best.
Hard to imagine that he can reproduce that form now I'd say, but he will be cheap.
I can only imagine the uproar had the Rhinos re-signed him.

| Well....after all the work getting rid of players with issues we invite Bailey in and he promises to be a good boy, so that's ok then...be surprised if he lasts much longer than he did at HKR

| Whilst I wouldn't be impressed if he'd resigned for Leeds. I don't think that his signing for Wire is the disaster some on here seem to feel it is. I doubt you're paying him much and your management team have been smart enough to put appropriate clauses in his contract if he reverts to inappropriate behaviour. He could be a very good squad player if he applies himself and you can get rid if he doesn't. Where's the risk?

| I'm OK with this. Last time we signed a forward with a terrible disciplinary record (in mid 80's) it worked out OK.
I'm undecided if this is opportunism or sheer panic buying now.

For the first time I'm having my doubts about TS. I have no inside info but wonder why for example, P Wood long standing servant got shown the door and Bailey gets the welcome mat?
This has really taken the gloss off next season for me.

Surely he is the sort of prop forward that people on here have been demanding the club sign? A proven winner.'"
Actually, that's a very good point. I mean, how many of us would turn down the opportunity of Djokovic's balls ? He has now won 10 Grand slams, 26 Masters titles, he has double the ranking points of second place and has just won the Barclays year end title again. Those balls must be absolutely priceless having seen him to so many titles, even at my great age of 78 I reckon they would still let me beat Andy Murray on current form. As he jiggles his balls up and down on the baseline getting ready to serve I just can't help thinking; 'what a great load of balls'.
Perhaps we ought to put a bid in for Kevin Sinfield's jockstrap, how many medals has that won ?

| Oh and the idea that there will be behaviour clauses in the contract which will rein Bailey in is laughable, no doubt his other clubs had same type of clauses in his contract. My worry is the damage that can be done to the attitude of impressionable young players by a multiple medal winner of his ilk.

The guy everyone hates walks into your club. Your side hated him that much that they preferred to have had a scuffle with him than try and win a Grand Final!icon_lol.gif

| I think there has been examples of behaviour and embarrassment this from the last week going back 18 months that we have excepted that make Bailey ideal to audition for the Xmas RL nativity.
Get over it some of you. He's here and he's a Wire like it or not.
