As you well know, during the heroic but ultimately doomed National Strike of 1926, the starving Miners from Wigan were forced to go back to work earlier than surrounding towns - thus having to eat 'humble pie' - and not because the World Pie Eating Championships are held in Wigan. By the way I recommend the Museum of Labour History in Manchester (free to enter and a decent cafe) if you didn't.
Your turn...

Because the Wire fans have a good relationship with the Catalan fans. The last few years both sets of fans have stood together singing with and supporting each other.
If you look at the first link Rugbychick posted you'll notice a large Catalan flag in with the Wire fans after the game (you may have noticed it during the game, too)
Also, I was sat above the Bradford fans, in the upper tier, for the first two games, and I could hear everything the Wire fans were singing (including the Catalan songs) even when there was only a (comparatively) small contingent.

| Allez does not have a direct English translation but in its context means. Get going. Allez is one of the first French words a child would learn, after greetings and courtesy, for directions.

Haha. Good point.
Personally I've nothing against Leigh - and they have one of the very few decent MPs around today.

| I thought we sang it because it was catchy... Why to the Wigan super ultra brigantes sing:
Wooooooooooooah oh! Woooooooooah oh! Wooooooooooah oh! Woooooooooooooah oh! Nananananananananananana! Nananananananananananana! Nananananananananananana! Nananananananananananana!
And repeat.
What meaning does that have? Why does it matter? It's just fans enjoying themselves. Bore off.

| As for the origins of songs, who knows? Warrington and Catalan fans have a very close relationship, you as a Wigan fan should understand why we have the relationship we do as it stems from the semi final at the HJ Wigan v Catalan AND/OR from the fact we take so many over to Catalan. I think they released away fans ticket numbers sales through the years and we have always been the highest despite not having the biggest fan base. Catalan have a good relationship both on and off the field with us.
We have similar relationships with Hudds fans...it shows we are not the monsters that certain clubs make us out to be

If I criticise your lot singing Allez Allez ad nauseum I'm hardly likely to find nanana much cop either am I?
If you have fun singing then good for you. And I really do admire your Francophile stance. I look forward to you extending your repertoire. "la Mllaise" perhaps?

| The Warrington historic ties with Catalans were formed in 2007 when we all supported Les Cats in the Challenge Cup semi final, we did this because we were so excited about a new franchise in Super League and thought it would be great for the game if they made a major final and it would help expand rugby league across borders.

I think the good tie between the clubs from that day is why they chose Wire for the Barcelona game in 2009. From which the ties between the two clubs grew further still.

There are several of him in Foz's gallery (plus other good shots from the day). Later in the day this plucky, and very distinctly French, Frenchman was sporting some Wire war paint. He looked so excited when we started to sing the Joel and Mick Monas chant, he was looking around erratically trying to draw people's attention to join in, like they hadn't heard the start of the chant.
