Based on this weekend's performances I'm more worried about Saints and Catalan than Wigan.

Catalans or Leeds would be a tricky choice.

There's a common contradiction hiding in this thread.

If Wigan are as shot to pieces as so many seem to think on here, surely Catalans will beat them and thus mean we can't select Wigan anyway?

What I'm trying to say, is that to select Wigan would be folly.
Send them off to Saints and let them do battle again.

Today Wigan played the worst they could play and Saints the best they have played all season, Wigan will get back on track and when the do they will be formidable again. Saints may play well again but not as well as they did today.

We will have to wait to see what players are unavailable for the other teams but currently I would go.

I think Leeds have a big performance in them waiting to come out, similar to Saints, but it would only be possible to face Saints in the final.

It would be a very brave call from the club to do this, but I can see the reasoning behind it.

I can't see it happening myself - I think they'll just pick the lowest ranked team left in. When club call was first introduced, didn't a few of the coaches say they didn't like the system and would just pick the lowest ranked club that they would have played under the old system anyway?

It would almost be worth picking Wigan (if they beat Catalan next week) just to see the look on Michael Maguire's face.

Hudds won't beat Leeds, form dropped right off, may be wrong but can't see it, that's just to clear any ambiguity from having Hudds 1st yet wanting us to pick Wigan.

I want to say Wigan as I feel they'll struggle with a 5-day turnaround and no rest, plus I'd prefer a Wire Saints final but then if all teams are playing up to standard then Wigan are the team I fear the most and we'd have no idea which Wigan performance will turn up on the day. It's such a tough one!

If Catalan can knock wigan out then we pick them otherwise we pick the winner from the Hudds/Leeds game. Anything else would be utter madness.

In their original format, the playoff structure gave a massive advantage to the team that finished top, and rightly so. This advantage has now been reduced, Club Call is nothing but an opportunity for the team burdened with the selection to make a complete ar3e of themselves. Call me cynical if you wish, but I just see this as a SKY gimmick, which serves only to make the LLS less important. I’m not resentful, I accept SKY call the shots, and in most things they do I can see the reasoning. Even if it’s purely financial I’ll take it on the chin. Please, please somebody tell me why this is a good idea. Why is it good for rugby? Why is it good for sky? Me no understand.

on a sorta related note, how is the QF venue for the other semi decided? Assuming we dont pick Saints would they get the home game as the winners of week one? Or would it go to Wigan as the higher placed team from the regular league (assuming they dont get knocked out nxt weekend)???
