The same could be applied at Wire. You have a card similar to the HMV or Gamestation card. When you go in they swipe it. It gives you points. When they call a match a priority match you have to spend those points.'"
ok... i work in IT... i design systems for warehouses and various logistics companys.... these kind of cross reference system don't come cheap.
you're talking about premier league football teams in your comparison.... and the biggest game retail company in the UK
do you have any idea what it costs to have a system that links in match ticket barcodes to future ticket availability ?

ok scrap the football one. It dawned on me pretty quickly that that isn't even relevant. as that was for match entry and every stadium would have to have card things (as we are assessing the level of away support primarily)
I am not holding all the facts for this. I can't imagine it is a stupidly expensive system. It is a simple points system. It would be similar to a library card or a uni id.
In fact i made one with a friend using isbn numbers or barcodes about 10 years ago.
Customer buys a card for ten pounds. They scan it on a barcode machine and input details (or can be done by the customer) whenever a match ticket is bought it is scanned and points are added to the profile and points are then deleted every 24 months or second 01/01 in the calander.
Would that be expensive, how much more for online capability?

We could hire Uri Geller to 'will it' in to Gatcliffes head, he could then enter them all manually with an old Emerson type writer.

people take the pi$$ out of me to much on this.
I'm gonna sulk.
I would email Gatcliffe (I am usually the first to recommend it if someone has a problem) It doesn't really appeal to me.

| Club was in a no win situation. If they did nothing some ardent season ticket holders wouldnt have got tickets and would have been whinging. As it is non-ticket holders will complain. Personally I know which group of people the club would least like to upset.
I know a few people who have not bought a season ticket this year due to chnaged fixtures last year meaning they missed all the "free games". A straw pole amongst them seems to be in agreement with this decisions.
The argument over it not being a term/benefit of the season ticket at the start of the season is redundant. Those are the benefits you will contractually get from the club. They are quite at liberty to put any conditions they feel necessary on other tickets as and when the reasons dictate.

not true, i know some season ticket holders that go all home games, but never away games.
Likewise, i know some people who were long time season ticket holders, through thin (02) and stopped going around 2007/8 haven't been for a while.
So you're making a bit of a generalization there.
As we know, the club wants the maximise the amount of season tickets available, it gets the cash flow going early, they can set their budgets etc. for the new year.
Looking at it a bit wider, could this be a tactic by the club to encourage more ST sales by making them a must have item, bear in mind the stories over the off season about expanding the stadium here, gatcliffe wanting sold out crowds etc. Personally i think it could partly go hand in hand with that.
That is IF they pull this stunt again, probably not likely.

its a good basis it would also encourage fans attending away games (not in your case)to purchase from the club rather than pay on the gate

| I find it unbelievable that people are questioning whether season ticket holders get priority to buy tickets that are in demand.
You may not be happy with it but nobody can seriuosly be suprised by it or question whether it is correct or not.
We should just be happy that Saints had made the West Stand the away end and not the East Stand, that would have cause proper ticket frenzy to the extent that I think the North Stand season ticket holders could expect priority over those with East or South Stand season tickets.

| I can't be bothered reading a five page thread, but here's my view after skimming a couple:
If the allocation is limited priority has to go to someone, and anyone who watches football with its higher ticket demand knows that season ticket holders are almost always the 'someone' in question. Fine by me.
I'm not a season ticket holder, and the only tickets I bought from the club last year were for the semi final and Wigan away. I paid on the turnstile at a number of other games home and away, bought tickets from Saints twice for games at Knowsley Road, and from the RFL for Wembley. WRLFC have no record of that though, so if they wanted to implement any other loyalty criteria I'm sure I'd miss out and I'd have no complaints.
I'm not worried as I'm sure I'll get a ticket, as will everyone else here who wants one. If it's in the Saints end then so be it. Some of you need to get a grip.
PS: St Helens isn't Scouse and Hartlepool isn't Geordie. Double fail.

<pedant alert> There's no such thing as the 'Saints end'. Widnes is our pad for the season. Therefore, Saints fans have first dibs on the North, South and East Stands. An unknown number will be reserved for season ticket holders in either allocated (North and South) or unallocated (East) seats. The remainder will be on general sale. I have no idea how many season tickets Saints have sold this year. No doubt we will all find out when the Wire match is on. Correct. Basically, we have been given the whole of the West Stand apart from the back row of seats as posted above, so our allocation is around 3600. The 2500 as said on the club website is, (as said by Stinky Turner) to make people panic and get down to the shop. After that 3600/3700 is gone thats our tickets then gone. Any Wire fans wanting to buy after that will have to buy from Saints for either the East, South or North Stands. I think 3700 is a reasonable allocation.
Wire end:
