Cricket is the official English summer sport, played by teams over the length and breadth of England with a fine history of doing such, with a vibrant International competition. Whereas RL....

| Im going. Will be my debut as well. I hate the off season and will be doing cartwheels for the entire journey down there. Watching the opening game of the season after having been deprived for 3 months is a much bigger lure for me than an event in early summer. Any event of this size is going to split opinion.
Will pick my games and nip in and out of the ground. Will probably watch the mighty Irish on the TV in the Prince Of Wales if they don't clash with a game I want to see.
Pitch won't be an issue IIRC as they have more than one they can use. When I did the stadium tour a few years back they had taken one out as they were having a New Years bash.
February isn't that cold you bunch of girls. Your supposed to be tough Northern folk. It will bring back memories of that bygone era pre 1996 .

| I've got no problem with the concept, just the location. The RFL need to understand that despite their admirable, determined and one eyed efforts over the last 30 years the only people who want to watch RL in modest/sustainable numbers are those from the M62 corridor in England and those who strove against the Vichy government in the South of France.
To think otherwise is almost like having a a RLF/Sky/expansionist enduced wet dream.

| Thing is the bulk of the concept is the location (i.e having it out of the heartlands.) If we are going to grow the game we are going to have keep being innovative and stick with things like this. Lets keep going with it as long as we arent as a sport being made to look silly or are haemoraging a load of cash.

| The idea of having the extra round as the first fixtures is a good one (although it usually isn't the 1st games as the SL champions play a week early), but I seriously question the wisdom of playing them in Cardiff.
Travel will be a nightmare, we will be competing with football & the 6 nations. If the RFL/clubs want a big bang start, why not hold it @ the City of Manchester stadium? Its in the heartlands so easy for people to get to & there is a warm up pitch for the players. Ok it's an open stadium so it will be cold, but you are not telling me that the Millenium stadium will be warm in February?

Well the football season is still going so rule out playing 7 games on any football ground, Cardiff is the only stadium what has a roof to keep the rain out.
I don't see the problem with having it in Cardiff, why do people keep going on about the 6 nations? Wales play in Scotland, so when the football world cup was on should we of cancelled the round of fixtures, no because that has nothing to do with rugby league.
When would the ideal time to have it be? summer, well prices will rocket so i'm sure people will moan, September people will still moan. Having at start of the year is a good idea start the league off with a boom that's the idea, will it work? it might if people stop moaning about the weather, you know we do live in England look at the weather we have had through the most of summer.

| Glad to see it back in Cardiff and I feel it's a good move having it in February as it will be a good start to the new SL season. Lot better than having it mid-season on a bank holiday weekend.
However, no doubt there will be the usual "phantom" rail works, road works etc that always seem to accompany RL weekends away from the "heartlands".
