in fairness to the above post like you say its 2 years on..... not many players get that kind of leeway, at the time he summed up everything that was wrong with cullens final year and was a poor number 7

Why are you so obsessed with how many players over 30 people have in their teams?

Because I have seen it many times where too many players are left in a team for too long.

Wigan in the sixties Boston, Ashton McTigue,
Saints in the seventies
Wigan in the nineties

The problem is not the age as such but having too many who leave in a relatively short space of time.

Wigan managed it perfectly in the late 80's early 90's. Hanley went, Clarke came in, Gregory left, Edwards moved to scrum half and Henry Paul came in. Betts left and Farrell came in etc.

I think there will be:

Hodgson, King, Briers, Morley, Monaghan, Carvell, Westwood, Higham, Clarke, Wood and Solomona:

so possibly 10 out of the first choice 17 by the end of next season. Probably explain why we don't bother with a youth policy

Not really applicable with the players in question at Warrington as I think possibly upto 7 of them will have signed new deals or extended existing ones within the past few months. So it is very much something that Tony Smith is not only comfortable with but has actually created himself. And as they say "in Smith we trust".

What if Smith says bye bye in two years and leaves you with that aged squad?

IMO it's far too many. I know you have some good kids coming through but so did we at Wigan, Wild, Robinson, Johnson, Brown, Aspinwall, Hodgson, Melling etc and when things started to go wrong they didn't have the experience too back it up.

I suppose time will tell.

I wonder who will replace King at the end of next season then ? Hopefully Monas will have a persuasive word with his younger brother.
