| Does it matter?
Smith has picked an international team based on this years performance. The only player everyone has a problem with is Bridge. Morely will always feature as will Carvel. Higham is a class hooker, Myler, Eastmond and Tomkins are there for the experience. I honestly don't see a problem playing Bridge who has turned his carrer around this year. Good look to the lads. Out of intrest who would any one else place at Centre in Bridges place?

Shenton & Smith will probably get the nod. Lee Smith wouldn't have been included if there was no intention to play him & Shenton has the speed Bridge doesn't.

| He's a Leeds player until his contract expires, probably end of November & then he will be contracted to Wasps RU. He's been selected in the squad & it certainly won't be for the experience of being in it, so would expect him to play. Possibly he'll even be full back cover for when Briscoe gets injured.

I really don't agree with Lee Smith being in there, someone like Richard Owen despite his limited experience would have been a better bet to cover full back or Gleeson / Pryce as centres as none are defecting to the dark side.
Back to the other point, given the limited repetoire of songs we have can look forward to hearing our fans singing "That's why we're Champions" next season I suppose.

Lee Smith is a better player than Richard Owen at this moment. It is the here and now that matters. Nothing else.

One thing Tony Smith has shown in this squad is he's picked form players not those with a name. Lee Smith has been a better player in the last few weeks of the regular season & has already shown unlike Leon Pryce he is a capable big game player, while many didn't think club form merited Gleeson a place in the World Cup squad & his form has gone backwards since leaving Wire.
Lee Smith is a current League player & I have no issue with him being in the 4 Nations squad...

| Amazing isn't it? Fans from other clubs spend years telling us that we are massive under-achievers given the quality of players we have, and then after we actually win something and the players get picked for internationals, they come on here to tell us that the players are rubbish!!
Loving your obsession, guys.

Oh I don't know.
They've given Willie Mason some target practice, caused havoc on flights, clashed with a rival Super League clubs players, feigned injuries so they wouldn't have to play for their country of birth.
Saints have actually done quite a bit on the international scene.........

| I've been supporting Wigan for well over twenty years. In that time we have won 9 Challenge cups. Never once have I heard us referred to as "Champions of the Challenge Cup". Same goes for every other winner throughout history. Just my opinion but it smacks of trying to big it up unneccessarily. Not sure why you would do that as fans because it's becoming laughable to fans of other clubs. Instead of seeming proud of your achievement you seem like your really envious of the League Champions.
As I say, just my opinion of course.

If you were to talk to someone that had no knowledge of RL to say we were Champions of the Challenge Cup, they wouldn't know what the Challenge Cup is, although the Cup element of the name might stick in mind.
I could come up with a million examples of people referring to "Champions" in a cup competition, do i [ireally[/i need to do that?
I doubt anyone is trying to pass off as Super League champions, they're just enjoying the fact we have won a significant competion in sport, and so should you.
And again
Champions: n.
1. One that wins first place or first prize in a competition.
2. One that is clearly superior or has the attributes of a winner: a champion at teaching.
3. An ardent defender or supporter of a cause or another person: a champion of the homeless.
4. One who fights; a warrior.'"
Im not disputing the dictionary definition Im disputing the context. Its a subjective issue but below sums it up for me. Its also a trivial matter but I still find it an interesting argument because I personally have never seen or heard cup wiiners referred to as as "champions" or "champions of the cup." The latter hardly roles off the tongue does it?
Well leave it at that.

| So who do we regard as the bigger Champions....Leeds for their three Super League titles in a row, or Saints for their feat in being Challenge Cup champions three times in a row as well as minor premiership champions three times in a row.
I would say you have to give it to Saints to be double champions so often. World Class: "that's why they're champions".
