Wilkin sustained a neck injury during the match against Celtic and was taken off. Graham got himself bashed in the head against Celtic, was wobbling about on the pitch and was taken off. Pryce apparently had a quad injury and his was supposed to be minor. Gidley sustained a similar injury and we were told straight away that he would be out for two weeks. So he is a doubt for the Wire match but I haven't heard that Pryce is a doubt. Cunningham went off limping and that was nothing to do with the match; his knee just developed a problem which has now been operated on. He won't be with us for the Wire match. And Long - just in case you think we're resting him too! - has broken his jaw and is out for at least two months. We fielded a full team against Celtic. No reason whatsoever that we wouldn't field a full team against Salford. Don't forget that when injuries hit us then our full team includes about nine 18-21 year olds: they are our backup this season (and sometimes they are deliberately chosen to play because they are being integrated into the first grade squad).

I bet Pyrce, Wilkin and Graham all start next week.

So you have a choice a player is carrying a minor (which can be defined on many levels really and doesn't mean they are fit enough to take to a rugby pitch!) injury so you play them and it is made a lot worse and they miss a chunk of the season or they don't play (after a last minute medical where a professional says they are/aren't fit enough) in one game and hopefully are fully recovered to take part the week after - where exactly is your problem there?

This may surprise you but players do recover from injury you know



I hope all 3 are fit to play next week but only time will tell, the fact Graham played on Friday and didn't look to be injured (although certainly didn't look to be on form!) is a good sign he should be playing as for the other 2 if they are fit they will play if they aren't they won't - not rocket science really!

Pryce and Graham will. Graham played against Salford though most Saints fans believe he should have been rested due to his head injury (which can have delayed symptoms). Wilkin may well be back, yes, as might Gidley. Those two are pending health checks.

Two men who definitely won't be at your place on Saturday are Cunningham and Long. We won't miss Long - we didn't miss him while he was injured during our matches with Leeds. But we will definitely miss Cunningham. He is the biggest loss to us. We have no-one to replace him.

So from loads of injuries to having just two least it won't be a "hollow victory" if we win.

Nope. Because as our wins over Leeds and Wakey earlier in the season showed, we can perform just fine without Long, bless him. However, Cunningham is another matter. We don't have a replacement for him from our young guys and Roby just doesn't play his kind of hooker role so we could look totally lost around the field, which is generally the effect no Cunningham has on the Saints.

Just kick us to death and you'll be fine!

I'm sure Pryce will take more responsibilty and Eastmond is a great talent, next years Saints will be without Long and Cunningham in 2010 anyway, so this should bold well for us next year, as next year is our year.

It shouldn't really matter who plays in the backs. If our forwards get on top
then the backs will have no ball or room to play.
