| You could well be right MikeyWire, and some good reasoning from Lefty, Mr Draper I'm sure is looking at all the angles and if research shows it's financially better that's the way he will go, no surprise it's his job, I take Smiths point on the short turnaround and his belief that settled fixtures with a longer recovery period would benefit the players and give him more quality time at training.
I have stated previously I'm in the Sunday camp but I'm fed up with all the chopping and changing and want the fixtures to be as regular as possible, unfortunately with Sky putting games on a Thursday Friday is now the logical day for the club to play, a little unfair on families with toddlers but as they get a little older it will be one of their stay up late nights.

| How about local derbies Fridays to maximise home fans (Wigan , Saints, Widnes)?
Other games Sundays to allow travelling.
As an example next Sunday at Huddersfield I expect quite a few Wires fans. The following Friday at Hull KR -practically none
I suspect its all about the corporate pound which prefers Friday

| The way to look at this, is
When do teams play their home matches, when Sky aren't in attendance
Friday
Wigan, Leeds, Saints
Saturday
Les Cats
Sunday
Us
Wids
Wakey
Cas
Salford
Hudds
either Fri or Sunday
Hull (the remainder of their home games this season are scheduled for Sunday)
Hull KR (as above)
So, he still going to get short turnarounds and then long turnarounds, as he doesn't dictate when matches a played.
It's as broad as it's long

| Interesting GHF Apart from Cas when we were at a low there is not much difference in average attendances over three different days, I'm not sure about the corporate orientated reason does the club sell more boxes and increase bar sales on a Friday night? I still think It's for a more settled fixture list.
No we haven't had a Thursday night home game as yet but have had to change some of our fixtures to accommodate other teams not to mention some Sunday games, I think that is possibly one of the main reasons to switch, who knows we may well yet stick to our few Sunday games then wait for 50% + to be changed for one reason or another, and that's what is frustrating me and many others.

All very true Lefty and all very good points, but we know that some of the Sunday games will be changed for Sky as was our game with Les Cats, those who have Friday home fixtures are not so inconvenienced, away games are out of our control, I wouldn't mind the Sunday fixtures moved to a Saturday but for sure Sky will change some of them.
In truth we have not had many Sunday home games, just Like many others I want to know where I stand with regards to the fixtures with as little disruption as possible.

Interesting.. I think a split between Friday's and Sunday's is the way forward.

| Wouldn't it just be easier to get rid of Thursday nights? Can't stand the upheaval they've caused in the last few seasons. As for clubs having different standard kick off days I reckon there should be a set day and time for non-televised games a la football with 3pm on a Saturday.
I do think Saturday is a happy medium between Friday and Sunday. Kick off about 5/6 and you'll get in the crowd who fancy a few beers as well as the families and people who have to travel a fair distance to the game. The average for Saturday games this season is reasonable considering Salford and Wakefield aren't exactly star attractions. Remember Wakefield kicked off at 1pm or something stupid as well due to the Grand National, although I do realise Salford was the first game of the season.

I really like Saturday evening games for the reasons you have stated, unfortunately during the Premier League season Sky give the football precedence over our game so chances of more Saturday matches I would suggest are remote.

| Don't forget, Sky are doing Friday night PREMIERSHIP games, come August.
I can't see them having a GF eliminator on a Friday, the same time as a top notch Prem game. They'd lose a lot of viewers, as SL games do attract a fair audience. I think we'll start seeing a few less Friday games, come the "business end" of the SL season.

| I forgot about the Friday night Premier League. I just hope to God they don't relegate Rugby League more regularly to Monday/Thursday nights. Attendances would descend to new lows.

So next season we'll be looking at Tuesday and Thursday night games then......
Friday night games are not the issue people are making it out to be; Thursday night games are the ones that suck balls. get rid of them, get it back to Saturday nights or even Saturday afternoon so as not to clash with the precious BT Sport live match at 5:30pm.
If Roger is considering switching I wonder if he has spoken to the Commercial Managers at Wigan, Leeds and Saints to gauge their feelings about Friday night games as they've been doing it for a few years now.

| As has been said a bit earlier, derby games on Fridays and rest on Sundays for me to allow for travel. I know some of these will be moved.
Thursday nights are killing the game for spectators, that's the top and bottom of it!

| Commercially the club wants Friday nights. Speaking to TS about 6-7 weeks ago, from a performance POV the players want Friday (or at least the best chance of the 6-7 day turnaround when playing Wigan/Saints/Leeds). If the fans decide to vote in favour of Fridays then it looks like they may sacrifice the "yorkshire" attendances.

| Thursday nights should be left for the dogs and
perhaps championship games, when away spectators are virtually anonymous so it matters none.

| Don't forget those of us who are travelling Wire supporters. Sundays work for me as I can round-trip by train from Milton Keynes and still be back in time for dinner with the family. I could probably still get to a Friday game but no trains after about nine pm so I'd have to stay over for every home game I go to, which won't go down too well at home. If I have to miss too many then that's the end of me as as season ticket holder.

Sunday is the only day you are allowed to have your dinner at tea time and only then if you've been to the match.

Not at the minute but I would imagine that once the Super 8 fixtures are out, then there will be further Thursdays.
Wigan/Saints/Widnes should be the games for Thursdays if going to have any at all as at least you can get to them handy before rather than battling the traffic to get over the Pennines.
We have been lucky so far with our games on Thursdays all being local but can't help thinking something like Castleford or Hull away in the Super 8's will be moved, meaning time off work to get over there.
