| Quote ="Slippery Steve"Think it shows a fair point, I have actually compared him to some of your best players, I could of made him look even better against your weaker players, The idea of Roby not being one of the 1st name's in the 2011 dream team is quite ridiculous.
'"
You can't really compare their stats in this way because they're completely different types of players despite both being number 9s. Roby will always make more metres than Monas because he plays for 80 minutes and mostly runs from dummy half. Monas is almost an extra halfback with his distribution and kicking game. As for him not having as many try assists, most of our tries are scored out wide a couple of passes later, but Monas is always heavily involved.
I'm not saying Roby isn't a fantastic player - he is - but I don't think he's that much better than Monas. In fact, I'd much rather have Monas in our team because his style of play suits the team more than Roby's would.

| Quote ="Slippery Steve"Roby has done more try assists than Monas, so can't agree there and he has been our MOM the most this year of our lads. So he has played a big part for our team.
I am not criticising Monas, he a class act but the hard fact is he is not capable of gaining you 5000 metres or doing 1000 plus tackles. Roby has been tremendous in attack and defence and is the stand out number 9 this year. He will without doubt be the number 9 in the dream team and very much deserved.
'"
Monas has led his team to the top of the league with alot of injuries. Roby has ran lot's from dummy half and done alot of tackling and knackered his eye up. Nuff said.

| At this moment in time, it's got to be Monaghan over Roby. Although Roby's stats are immense this year, Monaghan has led his team to more victories by controlling the play; whereas Roby has been more of a workhorse because the rest of his team are gash.
I'd take either at Wigan though.

That'd be mine, 2 of those 3 backrowers in I'd imagine. Also not sure on Dureau, he's oozed class and all but I still think Brough might get a shout.

I know there's a danger that this may be a slightly biased viewpoint but for me, Myler has had a much for consistant season than Brough who is either sensational or turd.
Whilst he might not be 'dreamteam' material I guess this year, at his current rate of development he will be before long.

| i'd have monaghan over roby every time. stains fans just seem to think a scooter hooker is the be all and end all. his metres gained/tackles made is irrelevant, you shut roby down and you shut st helens down quite easily. give me a quality passer like monaghan who can direct traffic any day of the week

| Just had a look at the stats for Saints and Warrington.
Roby has made 5000m exactly and saints have made 37970 which equates to 13% of the teams total metres.
Monaghan has made 2421 out of the 37262 which Warrington have made. This is 6%, having played for game less.
Having a match day squad of 17, you would expect very very roughly that 100/17 = 5.88% metres each player.
Ok some positions lend themselves to making more metres. To me these stats say that Roby is doing 2 peoples jobs as the rest of the team are not doing theres. There is an over reliance on Roby at St Helens where as Warrington work is shared amongst a team.....

| Add in James Graham who made 3771 which is 9.93% of Saints total metres. nearly a quater of all Saints metres are made by two players!
Warrington highest metre maker is Paul Wood who has made 7% of our total metres. Which is about right when you consider 5.88% average for each player.
The work is definitely shared at Warrington.
