I didnt say Powell was great...just making good effort....Williams on the other hand hasn't. I'm beginning to think he wants out. Sam has a stabling influence for them.

Tom Johnstone won't be joining Warrington. If he wanted to join us, and felt a move was possible, he wouldn't have made it more difficult for us by making us pay a higher transfer fee. Look at how it happens in football...when Sanchez, Coutinho, Mahrez etc wanted moves, they didn't go signing new contracts with their existing clubs to do them a favour by making the richer club cough up a bigger fee...

The fact that he has signed a new deal suggests that either a) we weren't really in for him; b) he didn't really want to come; c) Wakefield have given him a contract that he prefers to anything he could have got at Warrington or elsewhere.

There is zero chance that Johnstone will be signing for Warrington next season.

Any contract can be terminated by mutual agreement. Not saying we are signing him though.

You do know what a rumour is...you should given your success rate.

I think what happened was his agent was courting offers from rival clubs to strengthen his negotiating position for his new contract. Johnson clearly prefers to be a big fish in a small pool and be happy to be the star name in a small club side that will not challenge for honours in the short to medium term at best. If he was an ambitious player he would look to attract Saints, Leeds or Wigan.

I hope we [idon't [/i sign Johnstone actually. Why? Becuse we're geting too good at waving Simon Moran's chequebook around and not so good at finding gems of our own.

If I was Trinity I'd feel the same about us as I used to about Wigan in the 80s, and that's not intended as a compliment.

tbf whilst it does seem that we do that, we've had better press in the last ten years, as when clubs have gone through their strife (trinity in 11, bradford(take yer pick)) we've not cherry picked them and in most cases helped them by loaning players.

Moran, it seems, is the only person currently willing to pay transfer fees. Whatever you think about it - he's putting desperately needed funds back into the game and some clubs have been very grateful for it.

Wire helped Wakefield out a lot in there time of need, TS also spoke out against the vultures picking our squad to the bare bones at the time, ever since I have had a real soft spot for Warrington as a club. Unfortunately to be successful in most cases you need to be ruthless and I would not blame wire for throwing money at the right players of ours, in recent years our chairman has stuck by his word in declining big money offers for some of our better players and stating that they would not be sold under any circumstance.
