I'm happy with mamo joining, he does have an xfactor about him. Just concerned we aren't going to have an out and out centre next year with matautia leaving and shenton v likely to retire.
Another positive for matautia are his carries, often gets you on the front foot early which clark will thrive on. A negative is his tackle technique. Always a candidate for a ban.
Adding matautia and Holmes will definitely make you a more robust side, if you have Williams, clark, widdop etc I see no reason for you not to be favourites next year

| Quote ="sally cinnamon"Mamo is fast and is a wholehearted competitor which is why he is popular with fans, but he's not a consistent top drawer player and he has holes in his game too so if an incoming coach wants to change things it's not the end of the world.
As often happens on here when we have a few good results, certain players start getting overhyped: this week it's Lineham and Mamo, we go through phases where people rave about Ratchford, Hughes and Philbin too. What you have to remember with all these guys is, they were all there in the team when we were on those bad runs and people were calling out Price for just picking his favourites week in, week out and not giving younger players a shot or mixing the team up. What did all these fan favourites do in those games where things were not going our way, to turn things around?
The big problems Wire have had through the Price era are a lack of leaders and a lot of players who can look hot when the team in general is playing well but then disappear into anonymity when the team isn't so there is nobody there to turn around bad situations. The squad needs a shake up and is likely to get one with Powell, it will involve losing some fan favourites, just like happened at Leeds and Cas.'"
well in mamo's case he pulled us to a draw against hull in the last minute.

I'd be happy if he stayed, I just wont be worried if he doesn't.
The only players in our side I'd be worried about losing right now is any of our first choice front row - Daryl Clark is the best hooker in the league by a fair distance & Hill & Cooper are still head & shoulders above any props we have. The drop off in momentum is always obvious when they aren't on the pitch. If either left, the club would have to pay big or get lucky to find replacements who would fill their boots adequately.

^^^ THIS ^^^
With a decent core (which we have at the moment) and some decent emerging young players, I’ll trust Powell to sort the rest of the squad. He’s got good form for that. Lineham and Mamo are good but not irreplaceable.

| No go to the SkySports link for Rugby League and it’s confirmed on there.Quite a sad state of affairs for the club the amount of effort he’s put in not to mention signing a crocked albeit great player in Inglis on what I’d gues are massive wages and whether it’s Powell who has had the final say this for me is a massive own goal for the club.

| A counter of a signing announcement by us would be good ploy. We lost Mamo but we've signed XYZ.
I think the lad can leave this club with his head held high and receive an applause upon his return regardless of the jersey. Not many can say they'll get that, nice 3 years of security too in that contract for him.

Agreed.
Cas have got a good one there, superb attitude and work rate. I think our loss is Cas's gain so long as Radfoed embraces his oddness and allows his enthusiasm for the game to shine through.
He will be mportant to us for the rest of the season and I really think he will give his absolute all.

| We can only assume Moran and Middleton didn’t have any say in this as it was prob in Powell’s contract the he and he alone decided who stays and goes so obviously not in his plans.

| We don't know that, we could have offered him only 1 or 2 years with no assurances over being in the first team etc. Or we could have offered less cash than Cas. Who knows.

Primarily though, that's how it should be shouldn't it? If our sugar daddies went out and signed another 17 Luther Burrells (Moran was a fan of his) then it probably wouldn't work out. If a new Aussie assistant was coming in as an unknown coach, I'd be a bit dubious about them suddenly binning our favourite players off. With Powell though, he's got the record to back up his choices on the playing roster.

| Improved leaps and bounds since getting his chance on a regular basis. Seems to be one of those players who's enthusiasm is infectious. A real pity he's moving on.

| Never know what the true reasons are. We could be freeing up cap space to bring in a dominant prop, for example.
On the face of it, it seems like a real loss. We'd be in a much worse place if it wasn't for Mamo this season.

| I really like Mamo to watch, especially since he's been in consistently good form.
Genuine question though for a bit of balance (not being rhetorical here) - on current form would he have got a starting spot at Saints or Wigan two months ago when they were clear leaders in the league? I can't decide that's why I'm asking. He's not signed for a club that I see as a Top 6 rival next year. In fact I'm surprised Hull KR didn't go for him as he seems like he'd thrive under Smith.

Perhaps his enforced inclusion in the team has enabled his confidence to grow & he has taken his chances with both hands. A joy to watch.

| One of the games characters.
I'm really disappointed he's leaving but don't blame him.
All I can say is that Mata'utia has a lot to live up to.
(And good luck Jake - you deserve a 1st team spot).

| My main positive with Mamo, apart from the fact he's obviously a character, is his pace and there really is no substitute for raw pace.
If Ashton can stay fit it's not an issue, if not the backline suddenly looks a bit pedestrian.

| Yes Mamo does add something different to guys like Charnley, Ratchford, King and Lineham because of his pace so it does take away a dimension from our attack, which Mata'utia doesn't bring.
But I think easywire's point above is relevant, would he be a starter at Wigan or Saints. I feel like Mamo is one of those players who brings some great attributes but has flaws and in big games he could be got at by top teams, more so than Mata'utia.
Will be interesting to see how he is received by Wire fans when he plays for Cas. I expect rather than getting the usual "whats the score" chant he will get applauded by Wire fans like Toa when he went to Hull, which is respect that is given to few players.

Mamo would easily get in both saints and Wigan teams right now. Jeez, Wigan are rumoured to be bringing back Thornley! I'm sure if you asked their fans whether they'd like him or mamo the answer would be pretty unanimous.

If you dig out my posts from when we signed him, I was the biggest anti mamo person on the planet, and ill maintain that, wing or fullback, I still shudder at the thought of him under a bomb.
At centre, both last year and this, with a run of games he has been very good, equally in defence.
I cant think of any thing where I could point the finger squarely at him.
I know we had the Huddersfield debacle, but yhat was in a period where that whole right side of defence was off, charnley was getting pelters for stuff that wasn't his fault, just that they were running past him as the last man.
All that being said, would I give him 3 years? Probably not in the current climate, and it's a ballsy move by cas to do so, when the bigger clubs are handing out 12 month extensions where they can get away with it.
I will echo something else said elsewhere, had mamo not got his hattrick, we'd all be talking a lot more about wrench this weekend,

| Really have enjoyed watching Mamo and glad he is playing so well and very sorry to see him go.
Mata'utia though is a very different and highly rated player I reckon he will become very popular at Wire. In a salary cap sport you just can't keep King, Matautia and Mamo happy.
