I'll type this slowly for you. When retiring, you are not due payment. The contract is terminated by the employee, not the employer.

The overall situation is; we have replaced a 33 year old player, with a 28 year old. I will factor that by saying Hicks is rated as one of our fittest, strongest players regardless of age. |

| Abe, come on dont tell me you didnt find it funny what he did?? He did it for a laugh, and got a lot of laughs from a lot of people all over the world. The Do Gooders and politically correct people out there are the ones that say "how bad that was".
It wasnt. It was a prank, and i dont know 1 person (wiganers, wires, saints fans etc) who didnt laugh at it.
To try and p*ss everyone off on here by saying hes a bad man for what he did, well your wasting your effort typing mate. We will give him as much "stick" as anyone else.
The bottom line is, he is a WORLD CLASS player, weve got him for NOTHING, and have replaced Hicks contract with an IDENTICAL one for him for 12 months, until we can shift something to pay him more next season and get him on a longer deal.
So if youre taking the "do-gooding" stance, nip round to Gareth Hocks house and give him FRANK's number. Or go to your chairman / board and explain to them that breaching the salary cap is CHEATING.

He plays both centre and wing. In the NRL he's played approx 2/3 of his games in the centres and 1/3 on the wing. For NSW in Origin he played in the centres and for the Aussies he was on the wing in the 2008 World Cup.
He has been a pretty prolific try scorer through his NRL career. He used to play alongside Adam Mogg with the Raiders, before Mogg came to Catalans and over here people rated Mogg as a top player....IMO Joel Monaghan was a better player than Mogg was.
To give a comparison of NRL try ratios:
HICKS
Penrith: 36 tries in 101 games (0.356)
Manly: 42 tries in 93 games (0.452)
Total: 78 tries in 194 games (0.402)
J MONAGHAN
Canberra: 69 tries in 129 games (0.535)
Sydney: 23 tries in 44 games (0.523)
Total: 92 tries in 173 (0.532)
JM also played 2 games for NSW (didn't score any tries) and 5 Tests for Australia (scored 4 tries).
When the Aussies smashed us 52-4 in Melbourne, to knock us out of the World Cup, Monaghan was in their backline of Slater; J Monaghan, Inglis, Folau, Tate'"

From what i hear he's been used as a centre more than wing so i imagine he will play centre with king on the wing.
It would be a mistake trying to turn him into a fulltime winger at the age of 28(dog years?) because it's hard to teach a old dog new tricks. |
