Lets not forget a lot of our fans weren't too impressed when we signed him, people were saying he was an injury crock despite the fact that in his whole career the only time he's had a significant injury was last season. He was actually the one of our signings that I was most excited about, in some ways I think he's the most dangerous player in the league.

You will get the best out of Solomona if you can stop him putting on the pounds through fast food and the like. Apparently Frank Endacott stated in his book that Solo had a tendency to avoid the hard work in training, and there were plenty on the Bulls board last year who attested to constant deliveries of Dominos pizza to his house, eating whole chickens in restaurants etc. Smith will need to watch his eating habits!

Can anyone explain the reason why that when anyone mentions paul rauhihi i immediately get a picture of a brainless idiot in my head. Happens all the time.

I bet Adrian Morley could easily polish off a whole chicken in a restaurant. How do you reckon SL forwards maintain their physique....it's not the weighchers diet, they need a heck of a lot of calories to keep their muscle bulk.

As for Solomona ordering Dominos when he was out injured at Bradford last year, they had a promotion on where they put voucher books through everyones door in Leeds and Bradford with about 30 different coupons for different offers. Dominos are expensive but if you have your mates round and buy on those coupons it makes them more affordable, and they are good pizzas. In our house last year we worked our way through those when it was Champions League nights, Headingley Dominos knew our address off by heart by the pizzas we ordered. Solomona probably had his Samoan mates round in the evenings and was doing the same.

Smith obviously signed him to do the 'Lauatiti' role, and at the moment he is looking as good, if not better than the Leeds man.

We have signed solo on not a lot of money. Well worth the cash at the moment in my opinion!

In terms of impact off the bench, He's doing the job he was brought here for, which is to bring a touch of skill and quality off the bench.. which is something we've been lacking in previous seasons

Last week he played 20 minutes in the first half and 35 minutes in the second. Best ball handler I've seen in the P and B for years.

Since moving to the HJ we have signed "stars" who were probably 3/4 of the way to being the very best we craved. Nothing against any of these players but for example we signed Paul Johnson, Vinnie Anderson, Paul Rauhihi, Chris Leikvoll & Mick Sullivan who had the potential (when played in the right position ie Sully as hooker) to show flashes of class & brilliance; Sullivan at Leeds in the play-off win, Johnson at Saints before injury the other year, Anderson at times with his handling, Rauhihi in "that" game v Leeds, Leikvoll in the Johns game v Leeds. But with the best will in the world they never really set the world on fire in terms of taking us to the mythical "next level".

Now though with the likes of Monaghan, King (now he's settled & performing - I have another theory on him...), Carvell, Morley & on this topic Solomona we have players who truly are at the top for their position. Solomona is rightly compared to Lauititi in terms of impact, ability & sheer magic of hands & thought whereas Vinnie isn't quite at that level. Similarly although Sully showed patches of the hooker he could be he isn't a patch on Monas (both signed as 7's though - & now we have a genuine 7 in Myler). Likewise would you rather have King or Johnson? Carvell & Morley or Lightbulb & Rauhihi?

Maybe it suggests after years of talking the talk, we now have players who are capable of walking the walk...

Cheers - the idea has been batting around my head since signing Solomona, just never been sure of how to put it into words!

A lot of posters in here and other Boards had doubts about Solo and said he was injury prone. The fact is that last season was the only time since he's been over here that he's had an injury that has kept him out for any length of time. He's a superb impact player, somone who makes things happen. If we can get players like Myler and Bridge on the end of his passes out of the tackle we'll score a boatload of tries.

Amusing moment in last week's match when people near me were screaming "Back him up!". This was when Paul Wood had the ball - how times have changed.

Woody is currently the number 2 for offloads in SL.

He's a terrific prop in my opinion - have always really rated him, shame he's suffered so badly with injury in the past. He deserves a length spell on the pitch niggle free.

Quite. I meant the offloading was remarkable. His running has never been in doubt. However, he used to give away daft penalties (more than Westwood I'd wager) and all the good work would be undone in one fell swoop.

Just shows old dogs can learn new tricks.
