On the basis of information gleaned from here (3 miles away), a bunch of us have arranged to breakfast in Wetherspoons followed by several pints. Once finishes we plan to walk the pennine trail there with some tins in hand & stopping at several watering holes on the way.
11 miles may involve buying more cans that we can carry.
Do they do old ladies shopping trolleys on e-bay ? Y'know the ones designed to carry 5lbs of spuds.

Not sure why you're limiting it to 40k stadium. The facts, as I understand it, are these:-
- each season ticket holder would have brought 4 mates
- other people would have bought tickets but once they knew it was in a stadium we couldn't fill in 2004 for the same fixture, they didn't
- if 'you build it, they will come'
As a result we should have held it at the Maracana. Moran should have put the planes on, the miserable get. It's an insult to Cec Mountford that the club haven't made a bigger effort to beat the Odsal replay crowd.

Looks like The Albion will be closed.'"
Albion will be closed.
Best bets would be to start at Wetherspoons and then wander down along the town. The Imperial is 100 yards on your right from Spoons, The Bradley a further 50 yards on the left. Further down is The Derby and then The Simms Cross. After The Bradley, if you turn right and walk through 'the precinct' you have The Prince Of Wales too.
Time it right and Simmies will be the last pub before you set off past Asda and the Cop shop towards the ground. If you have time there is always Leggies (The Cricketers Arms) right near the ground at the bottom of Lowerhouse Lane.
Starting at the bottom end of town there is The Doctors, BB's and The Cornerhouse Sports Bar. Also quite a few other bars/nightclubs (The Vue, Bar Reef, Rouge Lounge, Rui's and another newish one whose name escapes me, all of whom may or may not be open in the afternoon).
Also on the way down from the station there is The Crown and The Horse & Jockey. The Jockey is a cracking little and I mean little pub but I'm unsure if Wire fans would be welcome after an unfortunate incident last time a few numpties went in there.
So all in all more than enough places within walking distance to the ground to wet your whistles. Have a good day and be good .

Wigan have sold just under 5,000 so far but that includes maybe 100 Wire fans aswell.

My comment was meant to be tongue in cheek. I know there'll be plenty of Wigan fans there. I just find it funny that they're struggling to sell their ticket allocation even though lots of fans were complaining that the Stobart wasn't big enough to hold the semi

| Club at the ground is fine but it may be absolutely rammed.
If you are sticking close you could try to get in The Bowler at the far end of the car park from Leggies and the club at the ground.
Very basic, strict members place (need to be signed in) but beer is cheap as chips!!!!
