I got the "nailed on" comeback...Barba was an all expenses guest at Newcastle of Warrington. Under the public eye he made visits to hang around with the Saints team dressing room.
There were some pretty pist off Wire board members.

That just means Wakefield can ask for a larger transfer fee for Miller. I’d have Miller out of anyone in SL. I think he’s mustard for this competition.

If average NRL club Good Coast don’t deem Roberts to be marquee, then why are we paying him a marquee wage? He should be on less, he should be on what he’s worth. Then maybe everybody’s expectations would be more realistic about him. People have moaned on this thread that he’s not living up to his marquee billing, but right there we’ve just been told that he’s not a marquee level player, so really it’s the club’s fault for setting our expectations too high by giving him our marquee wages. Let’s not forget, he was just a back-up half for a poor side. Why did the club think “I know, let’s pay him our marquee wage”?

| That is why non marquee players in NRL come over here to get more money. Thought everyone knew that? He wouldn't have even contemplated a move across the world if we hadn't offered that.

It's similar to how the American soccer league pays over the top for Premiership has-beens.
If we want a true NRL super star we need to be paying £500K-1M per year.

If we want a superstar...we shouldn't be touching anyone in league...household names are/were always in union.
Ask anyone who doesn't do RL who Jonathan Thurston is...
Then ask them who Jonathan Davis is or Jonny Wilkinson.

| But that wouldn’t win us any trophies just pull in a few extra fans and publicity. I don’t think we necessarily need the extra income from a household name but we DO need to win a trophy. And the big one at that. If Wigan can win the grand final with Williams and Smith at half back, we can win it with a similar low-key combination...

Here's an experiment.
Ask everyone in your household how many of these they have heard of:
Owen Farrell
Beauden Barrett
Leone Nakarawa
Maro Itoje
Israel Folau
Stuart Hogg
Jonathan Davies
Michael Hooper
Tadhg Furlong
Brodie Retallick
Those were, according to "Rugby World", the 10 best players in the world in 2017.
Be honest how many of them have you heard of, I bet for most people on here the answer is 2.

The American soccer league doesn't pay that well, they have a salary cap in MLS. The best place to get big money would be China but if they've been a big name in the Premiership for a while they are probably loaded anyway and their WAGs probably don't fancy China.

I think the Jonathan Davies you refer to , who currently plays RU for Wales, is a modern day namesake of Jiffy.

Defintiely. We need a proper half back, and he’s got age on his side too. Even if he is only here for a year while he tries to impress for a better contract back home.

Do we really want players that at most we only get a season from,I mean it’s not creating stability is it. Anyway looked on Zero Tackle and it says on there that the Giants have withdrawn due to his demands.

| Drinkwwater is a goal kicker so that alone should ring some pretty loud bells in the recruitment department. ....that's if we have one. ...and we don't just pick names out of a hat. ...
