| I'd imagine Sam Tompkins was proud to pull that England shirt on tonight..After the abuse he got from the south stand, I would not blame him, if he said stick it where the sun don't shine..I hope you so called England fans are proud of yourselves.

| I was there tonight and the boos came from the south stand, from the same people who cheered every time a Leeds player's name was mentioned. As for the kids running up and cheering when Sam got tackled, I was right in front of it and didn't see anything of the sort although I did see a try that wasn't given.

Indeed, and I assume all the warrington and saints fans who were stood In the south stand were wearing replica tops enabling easy identification?

| Read briefly yesterday that Sam hasn't ruled out switching codes, and today's carry on will have done absolutely nothing to convince him to stay, look at how England RU players are treated. As much as I dislike him, you put that aside in an international and I don't like to see anyone move over to yawnion.

| ...... was a massive example of english sporting mentality. The fact that most fans in the ground tonight support a variety of teams [ishould [/ibe irrelavant.
Its quite simple really. Billy Slater etc are a major thorn in the of opposing club sides. However, when the bloke pulls on the green and gold, does he get any unprovoked from his 'own fans'? No.
It draws unfortunate parallels with English football; Wayne Rooney spends 40+ weeks a year being hated by the entire population, therefore, the monent he pulls on an International strip, he may aswell pull his schlong out and aim it at the breeze.
Those that confess a desire to witness english success, are willing - often through the influence of alcohol, to allow 'club-judgement' to cloud their perspective.
I hope Sam brushes this nonsense aside and gets on with being an awesome player. The crazy thing is, SL could do with many players of this calibre as possible ...
Also, Benny, take a bow buddy! Just keep trying to take out everyone!

WRONG those wire fans u talk about behind the flag was told they would be knocked. Out for questioning someone behind them for boo'in tomkins also the hull fc n kr fans stood near us NEVER boo'd tomkins so I'm guessin u can't see much in the crowd from the pitch. Boo'n was uncalled 4 n not 1 wire fan stood in the south stand with us agreed with it

| We say we want a succesful england team and the international game to kick on, then some fans choose to boo one of our best players. Really stupid. It may come down to jealousy, but what has Tomkins actually done wrong wrong? Apart from be a bit niggly and ugly?

| Very surprised that people are upset with people booing Sam Tomkins when, in circumstances where it's a Warrington player being booed by his own supporters, the cry is 'I pay my money, I can complain how I want'. Odd.
Anyone who boos there own player is a moron, even if it's someone as cretinous as Sam Tomkins that's the target.

| Ok, my view.
It sounded like a handful of people in a 14k + crowd. It probably sounded bad on the box because there seemed like zero atmosphere and any noise was heard as though somebody had grabbed a microphone from Eddie or Stevo. I guess that we're talking about 20 ish people here.
I think that ST is a very good player. He [icould[/i become a great player, and if he does then that will obviously be great for all England supporters. Maybe if we tried to understand why he is so disliked by some non Wigan fans, it might just help him in his England career. OK, he'll be hated by some just because he's a Wigan player. Probably hated even more as he's a good Wigan player. I believe though that peoples views on him are made worse due to some of his [ibehaviour[/i on the field. We all know what I'm referring to. Again, don't get me wrong, most players stretch the limits of RL laws but some do it in a way that pi$$es opposing supporters off more than average and I'm afraid that Sam Tomkins is one of the worst culprits. But, he's relatively young so maybe people should accept that with the thought that he'll lose certain aspects of his play as he matures.
Again, I support all players when they pull an England jersey on, regardless of which club shirt is at the bottom of his kit bag. I also, like most others, want the players from my team to perform well for their country and there's nothing wrong with that. Maybe ST can go a little way to endear himself to the supporters of other teams and England fans can move their views of him too.

Thing is, I've heard that hundreds of times and every single time it's as vague as you were then. It's nothing more than a bandwagon to say Sam Tomkins is "niggly" or "a cheat" and so many posters jump on their forums when he's been fouled to so they can celebrate it, but very few people actually come up with specific examples of his in-game behaviour and even fewer can explain why the same doesn't apply to other so-called "niggly cheats". My opinion is these fans are brainless sheep following the latest trend. I'm sure they think, in the way juveniles do, that it's cool, much in the same way that a schoolkid swears and looks around the classroom for some bad-boy approval.

Idiot. A minority booed Matt King at Quins after a particularly poor performance. Stop making excuses for England supporters booing an England player. It was wrong and you know it was.

Kicking people in the face as he's getting upto play the ball, punching people then sh*tting it when they come back at him (Westwood). Holding onto players when they've tackled him to cheat a penalty. Starting on Matt King during one of the many dicking's we've handed out the past few years. I did enjoy Matt King laughing at him though as he went over for his third try though to send us to Wembley. Want me to go on? I'm not aware of many other players that do similar things. I'll admit that Briers can go down a bit easy if challenged after a pass or kick. It's stupid for him to be booed and it shouldn't happen, a rare talent and hope he stays in RL, but he isn't a likeable character on the field from a fans point of view.

| I'm suprised that Joel Tomkins didn't jump into the South Stand to sort the offenders out, in his usual "he's my little brother I have to protect him" mode.
