Really, its not going to affect most people as much as the media are making out IMO.

I don't usually get my 'hosepipe' out and use it.. but when the ban comes into effect i will make sure i water the lawn and wash the car.

Mind you it could be worse in some countries they have to walk bout 8 miles with a bucket on their heads just to get water!

Because some pay a fixed amount based on their property size regardless of usage, while others who have water meters pay for what they use. Will my fixed monthly charge drop now because we are not using the hose-pipe? Somehow I don't think so... Revenue won't increase but as selling less for the same price is always going to increase the GP margin!

To think, this country used to rule the world with it's engineering feats (Brunell, etc), but we cant tend to water pipes which we know have been leaking huge amounts of water for decades.

It's at times like this that I'm glad my decade long tenure at UU came to an end 3 years ago.

Saying that though, where I am at the moment, the whole business park doesn't have any water due to some piping issues. Guess I won't be drinking my 8 pints of water a day then. Should send us home, very unhygenic. Can't even have a slash as the toilets are not working.

theres a scene in Water World where Kevin costners piddles into some little machine, he turns a a handle a few times and hey presto pure drinking water comes out the other end...

If I have a water butt, and use it to water the garden, can I fill the water butt up from the garden tap by using a watering can, and then use the hosepipe from the butt?
