To be fair, two weeks since the trip to Australia to find a new coach and players with the only news from the club being Westerman is leaving.
Everything else is rumour. Might be true, might be false.
Officially its 10 players out, 1 in, no coach and no mention of any impending announcements.

I think we all agree it's been a s@@@ year and now is finally the chance to let off some steam whilst we are all stuck in limbo with nothing to do and nothing to look forward to yet (no coach, no new players etc).

Things probably aren't as bad as they seem (I hope) but it's good to discuss our worries and not hide behind a stiff upper lip of 'ahhhh it'll come good'... it didn't come good after 5 years of waiting so people are finally saying what's on their mind now the previous era is well and truly behind us.

Onwards and upwards. We are all fighting on the same side ultimately.

the seasons not even finished yet.... This is another thing i dont get this mad obsession with demanding an announcement on a new coach immediately.

Players are being shipped out and players are being recruited... club have obviously lined someone up.

I would rather it was done properly, the club showed proper due diligence and got the best candidate available.. if it takes a bit longer, so be it.... better than giving to to someone like, John kear

League Express I believe have come out and announced new Wire Coach and two players, but nothing on official site.
I think most just want some sort of communication or reassurance that things are moving at their end.

There are currently limited reasons to be cheerful. After one of the worst seasons in recent years we now have no coach and have shed a lot of players (deadwood or not). You're blind faith that the club "obviously" have someone lined up won't make people have confidence in the CEO and isn't shared by everyone.

Don't get how you "can't wait for the off season" when you don't know what kind of team will be on offer.

This could all turn around quite fast if we announce some decent signings and/or we get a statement from a new coach about his intentions etc. At that point i expect a few more people's appetites will be whet.

I can understand the frustrations and worries people have at the current set up, especially when the club are telling us prices will go up after October for season ticket renewals. People need a reason to renew after last seasons lack luster performances from a team who couldn't be d and a coach who himself admitted fell out with the sport 3 years ago.

The LE can announce new players & Coach without overly worrying if its correct or not because thats what newspapers do.

The Club however can only make an announcement when everything is 100% sorted & contracts signed. Its madly annoying because we all want to know but we're just going to have to wait.

we played wooden spooners Widnes twice and relegated Leigh twice, to add to million pound game participants Catalan, plus struggles against Second Divison teams Halifax and london. but rounded off with convincing wins over second division featherstone and second division 'in party mode' Hull kr...............

We beat one top flight team Wigan, arguably their worst team in living memory..... they finished the superleague with one more win than us.

I dont know how we didn't get team of the month... I really dont.

the negativity you speak of is nothing to be ashamed of its a realisation that where we are at, and what we have done this season is NOT GOOD ENOUGH..... if Tony Smith is solid enough and a legend of the game what has he to fear from twenty geeks on a message board forum..... there are people on social media saying "you got what you wished for now suck it up". its mental there have been no Smith out banners no mass booing at games he's had a jolly civilised ride to oblivion....


there was something very telling towards the end of the NRL grand final yesterday, will chambers told Cooper cronk to soak up the atmosphere of the final...... Cronk told him "to get back in position there is still five minutes to go" its the difference between accepting mediocrity or demanding the highest.

The issue, for me at least, is that everything coming out of the club has been bad news with very little to look forward to.
In the last year or so the results have been bad, players have left whilst still under contract, players haven't played to their potential, an inexperienced CEO is appointed, the current coach leaves, Hiku leaves, Pomeroy looked to be appointed as a stop gap, players that we probably should have kept sign up elsewhere or retire, seemingly none of the first choice coaches we wanted have committed and only one confirmed signing so far.

All in all, people are only following what is coming from the club which, currently, isn't a lot.

Fans kept aware of what's going on. Not a daily update of our current malaise, just a hint of what's going on. It's over 3 weeks since Smith announced his departure, and we STILL don't have a coach announcement. We MUST have one in place, or else why have we been signing players. Imagine Moran/Fitzpatrick signing players off their own back, a new coach comes in, and says "what've you signed him for? He's poop". As fans, we're having the slash taken out of us.

Exactly this. A little more honesty and communication. The radio silence from the club doesn't me make me think the board/CEO are suddenly inept, we have some smart cookies behind the scenes. The radio silence makes me think the club are simply out of touch with the fanbase.

I want to hear the coach say we were crap when we were, and that he knows what we need to work on for next week. I want to hear the board say "we know you fans are upset with the season, we are too, and rest assured we know what we need to do to fix it next year".

The general fan PR aspect of the club is very similar to a TS post match interview.

Here lies a big problem

People these days, don't like the slashing taken out of them, if they're being ignored.
Cases in poimt.
Airline goes bust this morning. People still turning up at airports. No communication from airline. No e-mail-text sent. Just hope you had the right radio/TV station on, to save a wasted journey.
Incident on motorway fortnight ago. People stranded in cars with ZERO communication from authorities for ELEVEN hours.
Train delays again with stranded passengers, umpteen times a week, with NO info as to what's happening.
People are SICK of being taken as mugs, Services are great at taking money from punters, but keeping them in the dark, should there be an issue. Pee people off, too many times, they go elsewhere.

I'm not asking for hourly updates, just keep us relatively up to date.

Unfortunately contract negotiations have to be carried out in secret for all sorts of reasons...the Barba situation being one, if it doesn't come off you look an idiot.
As I recall the Hiku signing was out of the blue. Speaking of which the club have to be given credit for signing him, ok he has gone now but arguably his end of season signing was far more significant than the Andrew Johns signing (discuss).

Without Hiku we would have been relegated. I'm sure he saved us so yes a much more significant signing.

Actually Duckie I meant if the club announce a potential signing and it doesn't come off the club look amateurish, it wasn't a dig at you, or any other poster.

I never refereed that you did. I just agreed with you.

It was obvious (to me at any rate) that things were happening in the background. Where I think the club has fallen down slightly this time around is that they haven't given enough assurance that things WERE happening behind the scenes. It didn't need names or quality of player, just that negotiations were on going with x amount of players, we will be releasing details in the next x weeks.

Clubs have the right to keep things close to their chests, but with no coach and 10 players leaving i think the club could have done better in keeping spirits up. Fan communication is important - KF learning point.

That said if Roberts and BMM are announced in the next week or so, I'll be a very happy boy.

I too want to be entertained, as do most SL fans, take note clubs.

I don't think anyone expects the club to spew info like a 15 year old's Instagram feed (I was talking to Ben and really excited but then I find out he was using me and chose that bitch Saints over me sad emoji)

However I've just skimmed though the club's recent statements on our website and there isn't anything mentioning that we're looking for a new coach.

So even though we have some super sleuths and people in the know on here, OFFICIALLY, Agar is our coach next season, and that's the problem.

The club have an appalling rapport with social media and given that SM is in the promotions business you would think that his business interests would be right on top of it. Doesn't take much to give the responsibility to one of the bright young things to update the social media feeds.

Ingrained negativity for a lot on here is a difficult addiction to control.

I'd agree that what I want from the Club as an arm round me.

There should be a statement from someone senior that they are aware of the fans frustration this year and the increasing concerns about the insecurity of the coaching set up and the squad. However the 2018 season is being addresses and exploring a number of options to deliver a stronger squad than last year.

It's like having an examination and waiting for the results. The not knowing causes more stress and bad feeling than it would if we were told some news on a regular basis. The soundbites from the board promising better communication and exploiting social media simply isn't true.
