Calling someone a 't0sser' or 'w4nker' is not an oppressive slur. Those words mean you touch your genitals for pleasure, and people who touch their genitals for pleasure don't have a history of being oppressed in our society.

Using the word Hardaker used is to say 'you are a homosexual and being homosexual is bad/weak/disgusting/not normal/whatever'. The word is homophobic and helps with the oppression of homosexuals.

They are totally different in social context and application. While I don't think Hardaker is necessarily homophobic, I think this incident should be used to make the public aware that those words are not OK, and why.

I do kind of resent the picking choosing of what is OK and what isn't in terms of oppressive slurs. Sexist ones seem to go under the radar, for example.

The 'PC gone mad' shtick is only true if you live in a world where gay people don't suffer from discrimination, abuse and worse every day.... that isn't this one.

If you want to start a campaign for an end to abuse of masterbators or perhaps consensual beastialiters (sp?) then go ahead...

If you read my earlier post you saw that i suggested a sine die ban for abusing the ref .....but positive discrimination in society serves only to highlight what some people see as making some people different from others. An end to positive discrimination would allow people to blend in seamlessly, for instance when i fill a form in do i really want to see questions asking for my religion ,race, colour & sexual orientation ? It is all discrimination of some sort that i don't really want any part of.

Two people abused, two different outcomes. First I have never once condoned Homophobic behavior. Find where I have. You are making up lies and I'm calling you out on it. Third, The game I quoted with the NRL u20's state of origin which is live on TV, NRL players who are too good for SL play in it.

It was a big RL story, in the biggest RL competition.....in Australia. Living there, you would have first hand access to watch it on news reports. Me personally, I don't trawl the internet actively looking for racist, homophobic actions that have been undertaken in sports around the globe. Again, your point is moot. If it wasn't reported on the likes of Sky Sports, or the BBC then a hell of a lot of people wouldn't have seen it, hence why there wasn't this massive outrage that you so desperately wanted at the time.

And the reason these threads are hitting 10 pages is because the Leeds fans are up in arms about the behaviour of other teams fans wanting to see justice for homophobic slurs, because the Leeds fans are defending him to the hilt and for every comment made by one person, there are 3 or 4 replies from Leeds fans calling said posters pathetic, backing Hardaker to the hilt and basically looking like a bunch of fools.

In fairness they can't very well take into account the quality of the opposition when applying the ban.

Not had a chance to look at it - but from the descriptions on here I'd say 2 games seems fair.

Whilst noting that judgement of disciplinary cases is (usually) made on "balance of probabilities" rather than "beyond reasonable doubt".

Hence, if by examination of different camera angles it shows Hardaker looking in the direction of Childs at the time the comment is made, it may be sufficient, perhaps further clarified (either way) by on/off field witnesses.

I think it's fair to say we are in pretty enlightened times regarding gay & other perceived minorities ,the witch hunts of yesteryear are long gone & in many circles it is fashionable to be so inclined as it also is in so many tv programmes .
To be honest i am in a minority group but i would not be offended if someone said to me " You paid into a company pension ,you can't claim a penny in benefits, loser !". And that person would be right because me & many others like me have paid into company & private pensions & are being discriminated against by the government not just an individual.
