| Quote ="Dropkick Murphy"Someone get this man a Blue Peter badge. He's clearly our bestest ever fan of all time innit.
As for increase in season ticket sales not being exactly reflected in overall increase, well of course it isn't. Do you think those extra season ticket holders had never been to a match before, or do you think that just maybe they went to a lot of games anyway and now they have a season ticket they are reducing the number of pay on the day fans? Hardly rocket science working that out is it?'"
My point is perfectly valid and I mention my personal circumstances only to highlight the point. Though as earlier on this post, I think promoting the club further south should be a priority for us, we are definitely 2000 light considering our success.

| Quote ="Jaywire"How far away do you live, and do you have a car? I rely on public transport so getting to the home games is costly and eats up a lot of time, even though I could probably manage it now. I usually go to the games in West Yorkshire, though I have to admit this season has been pretty meh and I've only been to the Leeds game (missing that would be criminal since I can [isee[/i the stadium from my top floor). I think last season really spoiled us and so this season has been disappointing in comparison, even though I used to go to plenty of games a few years ago.'"
30 miles south of London and yes I drive, like the hundreds of thousands of footy fans every season, I travel. I'm not having a pop at people who can't make it, I'm saying if you don't simply because you have something else more trivial to do then you should think again. I spoke to a Warry fan the other day who didn't go the last home sky game because he'd rather have a few beers at home and watch it on telly, thin end of the wedge in my opinion.

Good work Matt. That shows we achieved increases against nearly all our opponents.
I think the London figure is down because there was a big promotion for last year's match with free tickets etc. Still, for the first game of the season it's a shame we didn't get a few more in.
The Leeds figure is particularly poor but I think that demonstrates cross-pennine matches on Friday nights in dodgy weather is not a good idea.
The Hull FC one is the stand-out though - can't quite work out that one as I seem to recall they brought a decent number over, can't believe the away fans could drop by that much.
The Catalans drop might purely be down to that one being on a Monday night. Even so, it was still only a couple of hundred below games against the likes of Leeds, Hull and Huddersfield who really ought to be bringing alot more than Catalans do!
The other disapointment is that Wigan wasn't a sellout. I missed that game myself due to holiday but could see from the TV that the home areas were not 100% full - what was the away end like?
Still, increases in 10 of our 13 home games and an increase in overall average. Quite good, but could do better I think.

| One further thought - hopefully with so much spare capacity, the club will recognise this is not the time to be increasing prices. A prize freeze and a big push to get another 1000 through the doors regularly is surely the way to go.

| I think the Catalan game was well attended really especially for our first Monday night match & considering the away following for Catalan never seems to be much more than a mini bus full. The Wigan game was a ridiculous time 4 45pm when most people are having tea.

| The Wigan game was a few days after Saints away - after which we more or less knew we would be LIKELY to end up second in the table regardless of the result that day - and Wembley was on the horizon so people were saving dough. It was also televised.
Given all those factors I thought 13,800 was a decent attendance - a sell out would have been less than that last year.
Competitiveness always makes an impact too. I knew I couldn't go V Huddersfield last week no matter what because I was out of the country, but Widnes away this week brings about a dilemma. At the start of the season (or indeed immediately after their promotion was confirmed) if you had asked me what fixture I was most looking forward to this year I would have said "Widnes away". However, now it has come around it is a meaningless fixture, and we've got two home play off games to come plus hopefully the Grand Final, and possibly an away match too depending on week one and two results. I won't be missing any of those games (appropriate days off work were booked months ago so I'm safe no matter when we play) but that makes a dead rubber at Widnes in the meantime an expense I can do without. I might still go, but I might not either. We'll see.
Surely it's understandable why anyone would choose to swerve games - home or away - for cost reasons when they have little or nothing riding on them though? Saville Row wouldn't obviously, because he's a true fan, but I'd wager the crowd on Sunday - and the travelling support in particular - isn't as big as it would have been if we played this fixture earlier in the season.

How much impact do the televised games have on attendance? If someone had solid figures you might be able to put a case for some compensation. I've gone through my list again though, and we don't have the most home games, I accidentally included our Magic game. Here's the list to bore everyone with:
Televised Games (inc. Magic games as Away for all)
Warrington = 13 (5 home)
St Helens = 12 (6 home)
Leeds = 12 (5 home)
Wigan = 11 (6 home)
Bradford = 9 (5 home)
Hull FC = 9 (3 home)
Hull KR = 8 (3 home)
Wakefield = 7 (4 home)
Widnes = 7 (3 home)
Catalans = 7 (2 home)
Huddersfield = 6 (4 home)
Castleford = 6 (1 home)
Salford = 5 (2 home)
London = 4 (2 home)
I'm wondering if I have a Cas game the wrong way around, as shouldn't there be at least 2 home games for each team?

I am quite surprised at those figures. I suppose the cc added in a few more games, but I always seemed to be telling my dad ( in 90's) that Wire were on the box again this week.
I just had it in the back of my head that a club got some form of compensation, but looking at those numbers it doesn't seem warranted.
Widnes = 7 (3 home)
Catalans = 7 (2 home)
Huddersfield = 6 (4 home)
Castleford = 6 (1 home)
Salford = 5 (2 home)
London = 4 (2 home)

When you tea at 4.45, surely you mean late lunch or early dinner, unless of course you actually had earl grey and sandwiches one and three quarter hours late !

| Clubs can actually choose to report either the actual number of spectators who have come through the turnstiles OR report the attendance based on the number of tickets sold. They can also change which method they choose game to game. As an example, we've had a number of games where the attendance was published as 13,024 (Pre extension full house) where there have been empty seats. Maybe we've reported more of the former this season?

Actually you may be right, I've noticed some changes in my behaviour in recent months.
I no longer decide which pub to use based solely on the pint price.
I rarely speak to the guy next to me at the urinal anymore.
I've stopped calling women ' love' and call my boss Guvnor..
I've discovered you don't have to have chips with everything.
There are actually warm days when I doesn't rain.
And now my wrists are getting limp !
Oh no! I'm turning cockney !
That's it I'm moving back, costs a bloody fortune in petrol anyway !

| But yeah, I know I've missed quite a few home games and majority of away games due to not being afford to go. I imagine same with alot of people. Long asaverage attendance keeps going up it's good, especially with alot of times where away fans don't come in high numbers.

| Here are the figures published in a table for all teams in SL.
[url=http://www.loverugbyleague.com/news_10175-wigan-top-average-attendance-table.html2% increase for Wire[/url
Credit where credits due for Wigan top again, although it is down on last year. Notable improvement for Wakefield too at 25% increase and Saints although it is skewed due to their allergic reaction to leaving the town of Sintellins. Salford & Widnes are up but surely should attract more than they do and Leeds as strong as ever despite their poor league form in comparison to recent years.

Some body once said that the geographical path from the south to the north of England can be defined by the thickness of gravy.
Eg. In London it's jus,by the time you get to Newcastle it's that thick you have to spend half an hour heating it up to get it liquid form.

1000 extra at £18 (prepaid price) = 18,000 x 12 = £216000 (cant get anymore in the Saints game).
£1 extra per ticket x 10,000 = 11,006 x 13 = £143078
Budget to "push to get those 1000 extra everyweek = £72922
Sounds a lot but could they do it. A 300% return (£210k to £70k) on marketing is a BIG return.
