| Quote ="Uncle Rico"I agree that it is "ridiculous to think that we just landed with a blank piece of paper and no idea of intentions". Are you stating that is what actually happened, or quite correctly IMO that it would be ridiculous to think that?'"
I've no idea what actually has happened but I find it incomprehensible that we didn't know who was interested in the role before flying out to meet them. I'm quite sure we would have tele/Skype pre screened many candidates beforehand. We've got to have done, surely, right, it's just logical?
To hear stories that Brennan and Maguire don't want to move to England just makes me mad. Not at them but at us for not knowing this already.
Feels very very amateurish.

Are you privy to Fitzpatrick's itinerary? Maybe you are you suggesting that he jumped on the next available flight by Keystone Cops Airline (hopefully strapped to the wing of a bi plane rather than travelling in an Emirates seat) clutching a blank piece of paper from Moran with a simple heading "Find a coach, any coach and if it's not the one we talked about in the pub yesterday stay out of sight at least they'll all think that you are trying your best?
I'm sure that there would have been contact before Karl's "madcap dash", but, serious intent does require a bit more than "Hello it's the Warrington Wolves here have you got five minutes for a chat". Imagine the furore, if our intrepid CEO hadn't manged to get his backside over there and we found out later that for example some people's favourite, Maguire would have considered our offer if only....

Yes because the club went to Aus solely to get Maguire.
Must have missed them interviewing Pay and us appointing Price.

Spot on can't argue with any of that, whether it's 'the Price is right' or not it applies to whoever came in unless it was going to be an internal appointment

They will more than likely all leave paving the way for Price to bring his own staff in, I'd have thought.
Let's look at it more realistically it's effectively 7 players leaving who should be leaving. The exceptions being Hiku and Saveilo.
I think we're a winger, halfback, prop and interchange nine short but the core of our team is still pretty good with the likes of; Ratchford, Lineham, Atkins, Hill, Clark, Currie, Cooper, Westerman, Westwood.

Wirefan, as someone stated elsewhere despite the negative and positive posting stances we all generally want the same thing don't we?
At the moment, the first eight words of your first sentence sum up the situation perfectly, probably for everyone on here.

Dare say all that will form discussions with the new coach
However the biggest challenge for the club could be winning back it's demoralised fan base.

The average gate for 2017 held up surprisingly well ( I thought) considering the difficult season we had - 10.5k vs 11k in 2016 when we got to the two finals. ST ticket holders who are a 'no show' in the seated areas are counted, but not in the standing areas, I understand. But I strongly suspect that the majority of people are holding off purchasing atm because they want some indication of intent from the club. So the pressure is now on KF to bring over a good quality name as coach and for the recruitment of a real star or two for the 2018 squad. If people see that my guess would be that they will happily re-sign. Trouble is...... will it happen ?

Lineham and Ratchford. Are you kidding?????
The first is an absolute waste of time, effort and space and the second a fancy Dan who flatters to deceive.

| I'm disappointed in Lineham based on return on investment - £125k and there's no sign yet of that value based on performances.
Anyone with an ounce of RL knowledge knows Ratchford has class. The problem is that we've moved him around and given him too much responsibility in the halves as a key playmaker which he probably isn't. His rugby brain is generally spot on and his contribution from full back this season in the most blunt attack for years has made a difference.
Let's see what a new coach can do with them before we send them off for scrap. Ratchford would be a world-beater under Powell if he could nail down one position.

| Surely in the set up lee Briers still has to be involved to progress a future manager for the club, at Lear in the future we wouldn't have to pay lee over inflated Australian coach prises, so could spend more on the squad. He wages could be more bonus related on trophies the club won

| Agree with the Lineham assessment and would add that we must have spent more than £0.5M on him, Westerman, Clark and Brown with a less than satisfactory return. You expect players to dominate in games for that spend and it just doesn't happen. For all his ability and, as a former MOS, Clark has lacked consistency and deserves to lose his England squad place to Roby. Westerman has been pretty average all season which suggests he would be happier to return nearer home. Lineham's defence is woeful and just doesn't have the rugby nous to read a defensive play. No further comment needed for Brown.
Hopefully, Price's connections in Australia can give us a big improvement in recruitment and upgrade our Academy strength which is as important. Think we should give him a chance before glorying in criticising his appointment.

That first paragraph is bang on for all concerned.
Clark has turned from MoS, to very good to Emporer's New Clothes, from the moment we signed him
Westerman fits that description too. He's not let us down.Just never hit his heights of yesteryear.
I'm not going to knock a try scorer (Lineham), bur when he's not using his strength, he's no better than a "trialist A N Other" from the A-team on a Friday night.
Brown lives up to his name. "pooh Brown". Scandalous that we paid 10 bob for him

I don't think Hatfield Town Wire is saying anything about a top quality coach he is suggesting we could get him in on the cheap.
