The Eels are my team over in Aus and I have watched most of their games over the last few years.
Sandow will put a smile on a few faces and he can kick 40/20's for fun, If we are after a like for like replacement for Briers then he would fit the bill more than Cronk.
Cronk is brilliant but plays to a set structure but he makes sure that that structure works and he makes it work by pushing that structure all game until the opposition cave in.
I couldnt see Cronk kicking the ball to his winger when 30 metres from his own try line in a challenge cup final.
Sandow has his flaws just like Briers did but Smith managed to get the best out of Briers.
I would be more than happy to see Sandow in the P and B. I know when the ball heads towards him that anything can happen and the crowd would be on the edge of their seat which has been lacking.
Gidley could provide the structure and the discipline within the team as Monaghan used to do and Sandow could play off that.
I know the Eels have thrown away some pretty big leads this year but there have been another 12 players on the pitch that should have been making the tackles also. I know people will question Sandows defence but it is no worse than "The Axe".
If we signed sandow and the results did not improve massively then at the very least we will be entertained.

Tony Smith's teams never play to a rigid structure. He believes they should 'play what's on'. Which is fine, but you are reliant on individual players to create, read what's on, and keep at it. Evidently, your current team doesn't seem to have the personnel for this, certainly not since the retirement of Briers.

Smith must see Sandaw as a Briers type player. It signals that Smith, if Sandow is contracted for next season, doesn't see anything wrong with the current tactics, it's the players not able to deliver them.

When we were mentioned with him weeks ago, I said that Sandow was someone that we wouldn't need as we needed a half back who could work in a structure but if he is available, get him over now on an 18 month deal from now and see how he goes.

We do not look like we have any idea of what to do when we are close to opposition's try line at the minute, so Sandow could possibly just give us that boost and quality to maybe have a late dig at the top 4 and a cup challenge.

Trent Hodgkinson is still off contract at seasons end, and the Mole (so take it with a pinch of salt) has stated that only Gold Coast and 'UK clubs' have shown interest so far. The two of them would be a good combination, one structured and organised the other more natural.

I'd break the bank for the two of them, use Ratch and full back and Gidley on the bench.

He sounds like the perfect type of player for Smith to man manage... Big thumbs up from me.. You have to take a few risks now and again.. and if you're going to taker a risk, may as well do it on a maverick HB that could win big games on his own.

Babs, I wouldn't fly an Aussie 120000 miles on a quota to start him on the bench, otherwise we've learnt nothing over the last 2 years. He starts at FB for me. Ratch at 6 and bring in a 7.

TS should have put behind his personnel issues and SM should have broke the bank to bring in Brough, before he went to Huddersfield.

I would consider it. I'm not sure the commuting distance should dictate that he starts. He has shown decent touches at half and would be a good option there, same goes for full back, but I'd prefer 2 'proper' half backs, all wishful thinking of course.

Ratch s a proper half and will start 6 next year. With the Paramatta club making that Sandow statement, it looks he will be our 7.

I dont think Ratchford is a proper half at all... if he WAS a proper half, then in our current predicament, with no proper halves, Smith would have played him there, instead of watching him struggle at FB.

Maybe Smith will start him at 6 next year... But after your 'scoop' pre season that Bridge would be the starting stand off this season, i will take that with a 'Gareth Hock' sized pinch of salt.

Sign him now he is a class player who makes you smile as he is a cheeky chappie and does things off the cuff. He can kick and he can play to a structure, BUT he can then drop the structure and do something unbelievable. His defense is a bit suspect at times, as he is more Andy Gregory shape, small and stocky so has a tendency to get stepped, but I wouldn't say his defense is poor.
We lorded over Briers for years and we have moaned since he finished, I would say this guy is the closest I have seen in the NRL for a few years. Yes he has off field problems and doesn't conform to the NRL mould, thats not to say he wouldn't fit right in here.
I would love to see him here next week never mind next season.

Sad to see the duck no longer sees Ratch & Bridge as the dream half back ticket. Maybe we could even try Ratch at loose forward.

R&B are the combo that should have been tried at least once this season. It hasn't happened.
My posts regarding this have only been about who we have available to fix the problem this year.
I would hope we have signings in place to compete next year, Ratchford is one of them, Bridge isn't.
