What evidence do you have that he can play fullback ? Not the odd game once in a blue moon to cover for injuries like a lot of teams do with various players, where is the evidence that Ratchford is a competent fullback ?
If he had obvious potential as a fullback then why would Salford have signed Luke Patten and wasted a quota spot in the process ? |

Matt King's replacement will probably be Chris Bridge, if not him then Joel Monaghan will move into the right centre with one of the youngsters on the wing. |

The only evidence I have that he can play Fullback is the fact that he has played Fullback. He's only a young player Rob, I'm hardly likely to be able to point to 100 games where he has played there. Experience isn't necessarily a bar to entry - how many games had Lockyer played at 6 before Bennett moved him there.
I don't know why Salford recruited Luke Patten to play Fullback. Presumably because he is an experienced Australian player and they thought he could bring something to the team.
If the plan is to play him at Fullback then I suspect the person we really need to ask is Tony Smith. Suspect he might be able to explain. |

Welcome to the Wire, Ratch! Yeah, I'm already going to simplify his surname.
Look, i've read through some posts on here whereby somebody for one reason or another isn't excited at the prospect of him playing for us. But Ratchford has bags and bags of potential. Trust me. He's shown at Salford how good he can be and he is a loss to them no matter what they think.

Err.. Parish = Dick. What "isn't right"? If you want to keep your best players, perhaps don't leave it until mid season of the last year of the contract to start negotiating when other clubs are allowed to approach them. Not ing hard.

You're 100% right but to be fair to him there's not a lot else he can say really. He's got to ingratiate himself with the locals so he may as well have a dig at Ratchford.
I note that he's 22. Rogues will go mental - he's 30 in 8 years time! |

Has nobody told him about the £200k (?) for Myler, we didn't exactly 'take him', they did that to Widnes when they were on the ropes. We paid our way.

Is it this your referring too where that one fan says showed glimpses of class out of a 4 page thread ? The opposition could have been Wakefield, Crusaders or Quins which wouldn't be hard to show some glimpses of class against those sort of sides.

The majority of rugby league players at professional level have showed glimpses of class at some point in their careers, thats what makes them professionals.
Richie Mathers showed glimpses of class whilst playing for us, would you have wanted him to stay long term ? Lee Smith showed glimpses of class whilst covering at fullback for Leeds in the past, would you want to sign him ? Even Paul Sykes has showed glimpses of class whilst covering at fullback for the Bulls, you certainly wouldn't want to sign him.
Anyway, time will tell. Ours are just opinions, i wish him well like i would do any player that pulls on the primrose and blue or as Eddie would say "The primrose yellow and blue".

I quite like Ratchford myself, but as you lot have said where will he fit?
I wouldnt have thoght we would bring in a player that isnt a proven FB to play at FB. Helliwell looks great to me at FB and I do think Riley deserves a chance to get a go in the team when Hodgson is knackered (about now for me) I know he hasnt looked great for the loan team he's gone too but we know he can do a very ecent job for us when asked to do so.
Havent seen too much of Ratchford but I will bet ya if TS has signed him he will be a good signing for us wherever he plays him.

You've got a good en'. He's a maverick player, something we've woefully under-exploited at Salford but I think he'll have the encouragement and team-mates to allow him to shine at the HJ.
Hope he fits in quickly though - there's always a fair element of the Warrington fan base ready to write-off talent that don't meet expectations from day one (or before). |

thats teh salford that had both myler and ratchford as 6 and 7 then went out and bought jeremy fakkin smith who was preferred to either or on occasion. |
