| Do you get points for being more likely to score nowadays?
I thought there were some interesting signs for the rest of the league. Just like in a few games last year, there was some shocking petulance when things didn't go their way and Keighran should be enjoying a few weeks on the sidelines.
Despite being heralded as being the gamebreaker, Mago came on, got put on his twice and that was about the last we saw of him. Also thought Leigh dealt with Nsemba very comfortably.

| I couldn't see any "degree of mitigation" for Keighran. It was a good old fashioned swinging arm to the head. When I remember how some players have received big bans for lifting a player (who is play acting) or mistiming a tackle and hitting a head with a shoulder ... then I think he should get a decent ban. He's a bit dangerous is Keighran & Mr Peet will not be pleased.

With the new disciplinary points system in place, he might not get a ban at all.

|
Wigan's success recently has been largely based on defence, smothering the opposition out of the game and waiting for Field or French to come up with something. If not for them two they're pretty ordinary.[/quote:3dt1qvhw]
I wouldn’t say that was the case last season. Both Field and more so French were missing for quite a sizeable chuck of the Pies season.
So that doesn’t really hold up your post.
However if you’d have said Marshall instead, I couldn’t give you an argument.

| Keighran got away with one about ten minutes before his binning (where Hughes ignored the PTB) he should be getting a ban. No great loss for Wigan as he’s very ordinary. No surprise to me that Leigh won, they looked very handy in the friendly. Top 4 side minimum.

Marshall was easily there best player last night, not a lover of Wigan but I appreciate a good player like him, on the game itself I hope it was a president of what will continue throughout the season for all teams with the amount of laying on, 2nd and 3rd man in late and interference with the play the ball, over the last couple of seasons there would have been numerous penalties

|
I’d also (remake) the point that 1 point each for the draw would have been more than good enough and a fair end to the game.
Keep the golden point for cup / play off[/quote:1pnmlie2]
Absolutely. Neither team deserved to get nothing from that game.

Yeah, where it cut to Adrian Lam shouting "that's a flop" then the idiot went and did it again using his forearm for the sin bin.
Still don't understand how he can be banned if he's not amassed enough points!? Granted I still don't understand that system.

Hang on, are you saying you'd rather see teams constantly get away with all that, than be penalised?

No definitely not, I just fear that the law will not be applied all the time like it wasn’t last night, again certain teams

| I know it's only round 1. But i was a little surprised by last nights scoreline. I thought Wigan would come out and blast Leigh away like they usually do and Leigh would struggle. Hard to ascertain if last night was a one off or a taster for things to come this season.
My thoughts are that i think we will find it tougher this year. I think the league will be more competitive. Last season we had Leeds, Cas & Huddersfield struggle. Hull & London barely winning any games all season. We had Leigh struggle for 2/3 of the year and only came good towards the end. Saints were bang average for most of the year and didn't really threaten us in the top four and Catalans were the same. That only left Salford, Wigan & Hull KR as our main rivals. I feel that 2025 will see Leeds & Saints more of a challenge to us. I think Hull will be more competitive and based off last night Leigh will be up there. I just hope we get it right on the field and the pessimist in me think we could finish 4/5th slightly lower than last year. I hope Sam proves me wrong.

There is a big Hull KR love-in at the minute. It is usually Leeds. Although they did a video on sky youtube titled as 'SL 2025 Preview' and Jenna Brooks just talked to Brad Aurthur for 30 minutes with no mention of any other teams. I find this quite poor from Sky.

| Great game. Tex Hoy was never going to kick that. John Wells spouting rubbish saying it was the correct decision. If you had a decent kicker in the team then yes but i'd have tapped it and gone for a drop goal as they were 10m out.

| Find it mind boggling that Hoy went for the two. You kinda knew he would miss it, I would have just got close to the posts and I think they would have had a better chance at the one point. Lewis celebrated like they just got to a Grand Final at the end.

| I do wish that golden point would be scrapped for league games. Castleford fully deserved to take something away from that game.
