Solomona will be an excellent signing for you if he can stay fit, my heart was in my mouth every time he had the ball, but i think we managed to control him well.

Most of our team have been playing alongside each other for a couple of years, whereas yours had a few new faces in which will take a while to settle down.

I expect too see a completely different Wire side next month when we come visit again!

Maybe just maybe people didn't give it their all because

1. It was a friendly
2. They don't want to get injured for when the real rugby starts
3. It was about as meaningful as a Darren Day engagement ring

it looked liked wigan gave it there all. especially on there own tryline. pity we dont do the same.

I don't like to take too much out of friendlies or pre season games. After the Leigh game I thought there was too much hype coming out of the media and this forum at times about Myler and Atkins. It wasn't pretty tonight, but in my opinion both of these sides will make the top four come September so I wouldn't worry too much at the moment. In fact, if we lose to Quins I wouldn't worry because they'll have had a competitive game a week before us. Only when we get to rounds 5/6 and we haven't won or performed, would I start to panic. So long as we perform, the result will take care of itself come the start of the season.

I don't think any sane people were going overboard after the Leigh game. Can't comment too much as I haven't either of our games so far, but no need to panic after a friendly defeat. We will be there or there abouts challenging for honours at the end of the season.

I thought Matt King again put another good shift in for us, seemed to alternate with Atkins in the 2nd half, pity Louis pass found Roberts. Would of liked to see us throw the ball around a bit more seeing as it was a friendly - instead of on the floor. Ben Harrison looks like he's in for a good season.

Thought it was a good hard pre season hit out , just what the doctor ordered ,gives them something to work on in training something to analyse .
If we had won good but a defeat meant nothing same as a win would have players got a better workout than against Leigh , Bridge and Riley got there 1st pre season game and the three newbies got another game with the team .
Thought the ref Halibut had a shocker some weird calls but couldn't give a flyin f**k about he result

At the end of the day it was a pre season friendly. Wigan deserved the win but in all i thought it was very reserved. A lot of one out rugby and when we did throw the ball around and went out wide we scored.

I think TS probably got exactly what he wanted from that, A good run out for the team against a quality opponant, No Major injury concerns (as far as we know?) and a few things to work on in the 10 days before our season starts.

I dont think either team gave 100%, i would place a bet that we were told to hold back to avoid injuries etc in a meaningless friendly.

The one real concern i've got from tonight; and Leigh also exploited it was our marker play. When Wigan got their timing right they managed to hit us in the gap behind the markers. Their first try highlighted this as we failed to close the gap where the markers had been, and a coupld of times in the second half they exploited it too. I'm pretty sure Smith will have noticed and look to rectify this.

As for our attacking performance it looks just to be a case of timing more than anything. It was always going to be hightlighted more tonight with a team that would get off the line quicker than Leigh did. They've got a week to work on that though. Our most dangerous runner was Bridge, i think he could be in for a big season.

We were bobbins. Pies were slightly better and deserved the win. There defence was v good. Why didn't any of the officials see Tomkins lose the ball in the run up to there 2nd try??

It was a turgid and pretty boring game. I said after last season's friendlies that I wouldn't go to another friendly, but eh ho!
I thought there had been two rule changes for this season - once one leg is in the air, held should be called, and a player cannot be taken into touch or pushed back across the line if more than one tackler involved. Has anybody told the refs? Obviously not from last nights performance.
I think TS is holding back all our set moves for the league games so that the opposition will be taken by surprise?????????

If anyone seriously thought for one minute that wire would come out all guns blazing for a pre season friendly against wigan then they need locking up. Tony Smith is far too intelligent than to show his hand before the season has even started. Like someone else said, come 20th February I think we will see a completely different game from both teams and hopefully a different result to boot

Now i'm warm again ill give my thoughts....... Thought we were stuck for ideas at times and found ourselves reverting back to one man rugby, apart from his pass to Riley, Bridge had a shocker, Monas looked a bit rusty and Mathers looked terrified of running in against his former club.

On the up note i thought King was solid under the high ball and returning the kicks, Harrison put another few big hits in and he's looking like he'll have a fab year with us, Westwood, Atkins and Solomona were solid but i found the latar getting tired after 10 mins.

All in all it was a decent hit out that will get players up to match fitness and would have made Tony's mind up as to who plays were, hopefully we didnt pick up any lasting injuries but improvment needs to be made for the start of the year.

I didn't like the fact we were constantly going short side when it clearly wasn't working for us. All these things of course mean nothing.
