How can anyone NOT want to keep Hicks?

Deary me today. This forum HAS gone to the dogs. And by that I don't mean Belle Vue.

Sinfield to us is a rumour made up by someone in his/her bedroom based on the fact he used to play for Tony Smith at Leeds. Same goes for Lee Smith.

Hicks to Yawnion has no basis on reality, as was proven by his comments

Briers to Hull KR comes on the back of Briers' t'other half being from Hull and nothing else and has in fact been doing the rounds since his t'other half came on the scene

In fact, the vast majority of rumours we here go along similar lines to this. People hope that one day they'll get one right.

The person who suggested Matt Orford all those years ago will need a fair few tissues shortly...

Everything posted on here is a rumour or speculation until a club confirms it. Just because you choose to not believe it should not prohibit others from doing so. A few people on here will have good contacts, maybe even socialise with players and coaches and others involved in the clubs.
For what I believe some of these so called rumours will have substance and no doubt negotiations have gone on with players and clubs up and down the league and sometimes these do not come off and never make the press or see the light of day. However some of them will.Just because a few may not believe it should not put off people from posting what they have heard. I am sure most people like to hear what is possibly going on before an official announcement.

hmm I'm all for keeping Hicks ONE more year. He's lost a lot of pace from those Manly days but is still a model pro and i'd imagine he isnt on THAT much for an overseas player. Depending on how we go for a couple of months i'd wack him another year down.

I don't think he offers enough. The only player he has beat in about his last twenty games is Michael Platt. Also I would be suprised if he went to rugby union as whenever I watch it the ref is always shouting at ebvery tackle "stay on your feet"; so that would be Hicks knackered, goes down far too easily.

I'm sure we could bring better in or would receive better value from playing home grown players such as Riley, Penny, Williams and Evans.

Having said that he's been a decent signing and will do a decent job no doubt for the remainder of this season but at his age next year wingers tend to struggle to continmue to make an impact.

Put it this way, even at Hicks' age I'd rather have him ahead of Micheal Monaghan and Matt King for next year.

Is Hicks any better than Riley?

Hicks is a better winger. Riley the better fullback.

Top player & and well worth another contract IMO.

It is fair to say that if we are going to keep him, it needs to be as an out and out winger. His is below average at fb for me, whereas he is a good standard winger.

With Riley and Mathers there now though, hopefully he will not have to cover in future.

Depends if you mean, for what we're 'probably' paying them and value to the cap. On an out and out comparison I don't think you can really compare the two, yes Hicks has lost a few yards but jeesus, the guys a monster for a winger, he benches about 160kg+

I mean judge them on when Riley played right wing for us at the back end of last year. £ for £ who is better ability and value for money? I don't think Riley is that far behind him if at all.
