| At times I was thinking 'Patton's playing really well here' and then he'd throw it into touch. Sublime to the ridiculous.

It's very easy to home in on one lousy pass...then dismiss him for the whole game isn't it.
Give over, give the lad credit when he deserves it...he gets enough shaat.
He scored more than half our points.

| He played well yesterday on the whole and has done alright this season. He's a good third choice and probably on a par with our first choice option anyway. Next year will be different, obviously in terms of quality.
After what happened to brown leading to us losing our first choice halfback, Potentially for the season I'm glad we had patton in the ranks, it could have been a awful lot worse.

| And will continue to do so,scoring a try and kicking some goals does not make you an over night sensation.he still made some howlers in that game but people over look that because of the try and goals. I don’t hate the lad but he is not the player we need.

No I think you might if you cannot except a performance that was puts him easily in the top 5 players in that game yesterday...you have issues.

Just lol given some of the comments from you regarding him,are you that character from Harry Enfield that just agrees with whoever says what’s best.
Ps so one game makes everything ok,get a grip it needs to be consistent not the odd game, yes players can have bad games but he has had more than most.

I don't know who you mean..however I don't agree with your post.
Focusing on efforts that didn't come off above the key elements that won us the game.

| He played well for the most part, but like others have said he then went and made some eye rolling errors. Launching a ball into touch, at one point he threw a ball 30 metres across the pitch to nobody too. He still gets caught running down a blind alley often. Feel like his concentration levels dip too frequently.
It's not the errors he makes its the TYPE of errors. Almost non of them are ever forced for one. They're just basic brain farts that need not happen. But YES, yesterday his contribution outweighed the negatives. Well done Dec.

| I thought that the ball into touch incident had as much to do with Currie and the winger being too far forward of the passer.

| Patton's performances get a level of micro scrutiny that no other player does but I wonder if on the big picture there is a broad consensus of what Wire fans think.
Does anybody disagree with the statements below?
1. Patton is good enough to be a long term option as a starting halfback in SL for a mid/lower table team.
2. In a team with aspirations to win the title, he's a squad player at best. He has value as a third halfback to understudy the main two, especially if he can kick goals and also cover dummy half.
3. He's young, but he's not THAT young, and he's had a lot of games, enough for us to get a sense of his ceiling, he's not going to be a world beater.
4. As a town, Warrington hasn't produced much halfback talent, and Patton is the best Warrington born halfback in donkey's years. Hence most of us would like him to do well. But that doesn't change the points above.
5. He started this season as third halfback, behind Austin and Brown. He will start next season as third halfback, behind Austin and Widdop. He faces the career choice defined by points 1 and 2 above - if he wants to be a starting halfback he will have to move to a lower table club.

Very reasoned post, Sally. Don't get to see enough of The Wire in real life to make a decent call but, as a television onlooker, can't demur. Like your post, style and grammar.
BTW, regarding Point Five, as The Trannies are peevishly taking back Ryan to lie fallow for the season, Leigh could do with another back......
...... Is Austin available?

| Austin hit a nice hole set by Clark.
Patton although finisher also involved Lineham and kicked faultless...on a par with the best. Filled a void left by Ratchford.
People were still ripping him on Bacefook. I can see why Austin calls it outside noises. Tbh I'm finding embarrassing.
I've been disappointed with Patton because he didn't back himself...but he's always been far more that the doom posters on here and the shameful posts on Twit and Fb.
So glad he finally had a real dig.
