but i've been to a couple of blackburn burnley games and it is not a nice atmosphere, there is a serious rivalry and the police obviously expect trouble each time i've been it seemed like the entire lancashire constabulary was there expecting it to kick off big time

this was big. pretty much the whole of the district line was down last night becasue they had trashed several tube trains, and there was fighting as far away as london bridge and borough high street, which are miles away from west ham. listening to people on the tube talking about it this morning too, one west ham fan was saying he'd never been so scared in twenty years of going to football, and one fella was saying that and i quote ....."Junior winding up the scum after his second goal. He will go down as a legend for that".

not pretty, and i hope there will be no copycat incidents anywhere.....

Burnley fans aren't altogether there though.

Last time they lost at Blackburn, instead of going smashing Blackburn up, they drove home and went on a rampage round Burnley.

He's a big girl then. I don't blame him for not wanting to get his head kicked in as I wouldn't fancy that either but avoiding the aggro is easy if you want to so missing his team's two biggest games of the season is ludicrous.

I've been to loads of Liverpool V Man United matches at both Anfield and Old Trafford as well as nuetral venues and never had a problem. Tell him to man up.

Ye I head that they are certainly an odd bunch, there again Blackburn have more than there fair share of fans who aren't all there either last time I was unlucky enough to go to a Blackburn game the fans were fighting amongst themselves in the stand which is apparantly pretty normal for them

I wasn't either but I've spoken to lads who were and their stories are as...ahem..."interesting" as anything that happened in the East End last night.

I think Panties is seriously under-estimating the rivalry between Blackburn & Burnley.....It isn't really a rivalry either, more a hatred, which hasn't been helped by Blackburn 'lording' it over their, what Blackburn fans perceive as, under-class rivals.

As another poster suggests, a lot of Burnley's population aren't the brightest....(see the recent local election results..

)...and they don't take being looked down upon by Blackburn supporters very kindly.

Whilst it won't be World War III, I reckon on the day of their fixtures this season, Blackburn and Burnley would best be avoided.....though to be honest, through experience, I can say Burnley should be avoided 365 days a year!!...

I think they are understimating the amount of organised scrappers are from Burnley.

The pitch invasions were more Green Lane than Green Street; did you see the state of some of the nutters on the pitch? That fat loon with the pony tail and his top off? And the bell end who gave the V to the Millwall player (who would've knocked his head square off had he actually had the inclination to resort to violence, I am sure; these lads are in hte gym 4 times a week, training specifically for a power-based sport, ffs!).

The main instigators of the trouble wouldn't have been anywhere near the pitch; they're not that stupid to let their faces be seen by the HD ready Sky Cameras and Security operations. The real 'lads' of the firms were either at the back of the stand, pushing and shoving, or stabbing each other outside.

I go to half a dozen Blackburn home games a season, my son goes to every one as a season ticket holder, plus we both travel to a few away games each season. The last trouble either of us saw was against Wolves outside the ground about 1978.

The Burnley game however is an entirely different thing and will be very heavily policed. There was trouble there when they played in the FA cup a few seasons ago.

Whilst Burnley is only a medium sized town, some factions of their supporters carry a reputation. Blackburn, not being to much bigger, don`t. Now as for Bolton, that`s a different story. IMHO it pains me to say that Burnley/Bolton will be worse.
