Sounds very feasible, Boss. The King/Wardle thing throws an element of doubt into next year's plans too, so we'll have to wait and see how that pans out.

Seems the NRL have published what each player earns, and Dufty is on the equivalent of £200k. To lure him over here we’d have to make it more worthwhile than £200k so maybe his demands are a bit more than what we’re prepared to pay, especially if he turns out to be another dud. He doesn’t seem desperate to come over and prove himself to get a better future gig down there, and I’d be surprised if Powell wants someone who isn’t 100% committed.

I like his speed and footwork, but like you I won’t be fussed if he doesn’t come to be our 1 or 6. Thewlis is coming on great, despite being in a poor team, and I’m hoping Powell can develop Dean.

Thewlis won't play right wing, as wrench is earmarked for there. And if Thewlis just took the right wing spot where would that leave Wrench? He wouldn't displace Mata'utia at right centre, unless Powell just wants King gone so wrench would take the left centre spot maybe?
We might have Dufty as our marquee player, i think he's headed to us and it might not be as a marquee player as basically no NRL club are interested so it might not be the hardest sell to get him over here,, even for just 1 year.

Interesting that he sees him as the long term half back, but picked him at centre last week, and a centre in the halves. Not sure on the logic there.

I like Stef, but I think we need to put a bit of faith and urgency into Thewlis’s development. He’s top class.

Re the lack of smoke on the Dufty, he’s been dropped out of the first team for a while now so may just be out of sight… I don’t want this one to come off, I think we have better prospects here already, and listening to former team mates (see the Matty Johns show bit with Zac Lomax) he doesn’t appear to be well liked.

I would agree that Powell probably wants King out. With regard to his salary, there are two issues. The actually money side could, if the club are willing, be resolved by Warrington making a financial contribution. That would still leave the issue of cap space. It doesn’t matter who pays the player’s wages, their value goes against the club for whom they play so it may be about whether Huddersfield want to use that chunk of cap on King.

There are ways to use the Marquee Player rule to get round this, if they do not have two Marquee players in their plans for 2023 onwards,

Obviously they can fit King`s salary minus Wardle`s, in their current Salary Cap for 2022.

Like you I suspect that Warrington are still contributing currently towards King`s wages.and would need to do that going forward.

The fact that Powell thinks that Ratchford is a better option at 6 than Dean is the tipping point for me. We could have the worlds best pack next season but with Ratchford at 6 what is the point? Out Powell. The spelling of Mikaele today was also amateurish and Minikin and Holmes are laughable additions….and this is from someone who was willing to give him a chance. I genuinely believe he is actually a poor coach.

I’ve said it for quite a few seasons but Ratchfords presence at this club is a huge millstone and I thought Powell would end it…the fact he has elongated the issue means we are in big trouble. Buy out Ratchford and Powell’s contracts asap.

Wonder if Huddersfield are up for another player exchange deal, i.e Will Pryce for Stephan Ratchford?

We should’ve put Ratchford on the transfer list in his pomp and the lack of interest would’ve shown how (insurlarly) overrated he is. He should be nowhere near our 21 squad next season.

I know we won’t but I just want to see Dean and Williams played at half back for the rest of the season. They’re both actual half backs, we can have some consistency and can actually take a considered view on Riley Dean as a first team prospect. 7 half back partnerships is ludicrous

If he doesn’t play Dean on Sunday he should resign. Same goes for the woefully ineffective second row that he has not changed ONCE this season. Saying that Currie had a dig today, Holmes was his usual terrible self. Anyone think it will be Holmes that makes way for Nicholson?

I would actually put Nicholson at 13 next week. Can’t fault Matt Davis for effort and heart but he made no impact going forward. If Ashton is fit I really hope he plays and isn’t left out for Minikin (who I thought worked really hard today) as Ashton provides a far higher threat level. If Powell is happy to give a first team shirt to Connor Wrench for the rest of the year (which I support) then he should also do the same for Dean, Thewlis and Nicholson.
