| Seems that you can now choose what games you play in, and what games you are "injured" for, miss a quarter/third of the season through "injury" and yet still get in the dream team.
Who's the Dream Team going to be coached by? Tony Rea?

Yeah, but most of the players in this years dream team have their s licked by Sky on a constant basis. Our lot don't, hence why there are no players from Warrington in there.
Surprised by Roby's admission though; wonder if he'd have played 10 more minutes or so he would have gotten the nod.

As was the MOS until they all got pi$$ed up and voted for James Roby instead of Trent Barrett. Barrett walked the players player and they they changed the MOS voters to the players.

| I really give less than one about such rubbish.
Dream Teams mean nowt. International team selections make me scratch my head too, and they actually mean something.
Cast your minds back 21 years, fellas.
A certain William McGinty couldn't even get a bench spot for us, when we were average. He goes to Wigan, and within a few games, he's a starting second rower for the touring GB side, and from memory, played in all 3 Tests that tour.
As far as I'm concerned, I thought Jesus was the only one to have performed miracles on Earth. It seems John Monie could too, in turning Billy into an international standard player.
If your face fits..........

Looks like the kind of team that people will be saying should have played for England in the world cup if it was picked on form and not just because you play for Leeds, Wigan or Saints like it will be.

| Not normally one for stats but comparing Tom Lineham and Joel Monaghan...
Joel has scored 23 try's to Toms 14
Missed 8 Tackles compared to Toms 17
57 Tackle busts compared to 38
272 carrys and 2214 metres compared to 243 and 1960
Joel has made 20 clean breaks, Tom 12
1 penalty given away compared to 4
Clearly Tom Lineham has had the better season!
The whole things is a bit of a farce.

| Matty Smith - 3 tries and 10 assists, Are you kidding me?
Tim Smith, Richie Myler, Joe Mellor, Luke Robinson all more deserving. Jordan Tansey was more creative for crying out loud. Disgusting and pathetic.

| My dream team
1. Dixon
2. Hall
3. Goulding
4. Moon
5. J.Monaghan
6. Chase
7. Myler
8. Hill
9. Higham
10.Scruton
11.Westwood
12.Farrell
13.Sinfield
I'd fancy that team to beat the actual dream team, by some margin.

| Obviously it's nothing to worry too much about but the four Wire players I thought might have had a shout to get in were:
Hill, J. Monaghan, Higham and Grix.
Pretty sure Leeds have won a grand final at least once without a single player in the Dream Team.

I would agree with you. I think Lineham has been selected because of his broken field strong runs, whereas Monaghan is mainly a finisher on the end of kicks. ??

A Giants squad that finished one point ahead of a Warrington squad that didn't even bother turning up for their two games against Widnes. Had they done so (turned up versus Widnes) then that Warrington squad would have topped the pile with no Dream Team players. Maybe not so after all!
It's all down to opinions, and clearly the journalists opinions are worth jack ****. I would love to know whether the 'journos' all got together and chose to leave out the antipodeans with it being a world cup year, or were they asked to do so by the RFL.

| Does this argument about "not turning up against Widnes" hold for other years too?
When Cullen was coach we would have about 10 or 12 games a season when we didn't turn up (often including against Widnes).
Can we retrospectively claim some league titles if we count those as wins if we'd turned up?

| I struggle to think of anything I give less of a toss about than the SL Dream Team (just enough to post on it). A few names stand out as being odd inclusions, Laughable Matty Smith being one. This isn't a Wigan thing either - Charnley has been one of the best players in the league this year and is a genuine try scoring threat regardless of where he is on the field, or whether he's in a hotel room with his todger out and a camera phone (allegedly).
The most eye catching thing is the nationality. If the players vote for it, then fine. But, if the press vote for it and its part of some idea to "big up" national players ahead of the World Cup a la Sinfield's Golden Boot then I dispair. The Sinfield pick was clearly for policitcal reasons. And again, this isn't an anti Leeds thing - Kevin Sinfield is an absolutely superb captain and player for Leeds. But he isn't the best player in the World and these 13 aren't the best players in Superleague.
