Against Cas, I sensed that Wired had upped the agressive side of our defensive game. We seemed to be intent on slowing down the PTB, obviously a good tactic to nullify Clarke, much more than ever before and we pushed the defensive line to the maximum.

There almost seemed to be an element of "You know what, other teams are doing it to us and getting away with it so what the hell" and you'd have to say it worked.

Maybe we've realised that doing the ight thing isn't always the winning thing. One thing is for sure, Wigan will push the PTB area and defensive line to the max, because that's as much part of their game plan as a good kicking game, and I'm inclined to say Wires should do the same.

Just watching Penrith v Canterbury now and the refs are keeping a quick PTB, there've been a number of penalties so far for a slow ruck.

Shame wigan are allowed to conduct their wrestlemania over here.

Ever since the Wigan game we've upped our aggression and definitely started slowing down the oppositions ptb speed.

Use Wigan's tactics against them and it just might work.

What got me peeved was how Wane knew the speed at the ruck was key.
He grinned through his post match sky interview as he said "we won the battle on the floor"

Getting to the GF aside, the biggest motivator for me is seeing Wane's face at fulltime if we win.

A lot depends on how the game is reffed and whether Wigan are allowed to get away with those tactics.

They can and do play some great stuff and must be favourites going into his match, but a big Wire turn out gives us a chance

We need 4 props so maybe Hill and Harrison start and England / Asotasi (won't be left out after TS's latest comments) on the bench with Higham. Put Currie at LF and Laithwaite on the bench with Higham.
Ratch needs to play at f/b - the only other option if Russell comes back is to put Ratch at LF and drop Currie

What we need to do is overplay the holding down in the first 5 mins or so to such a degree that we get penalized. That may then encourage the ref to look out for that aspect of gamesmanship.

If it's a close game with 20 minutes left it's the injuries that we will have sat on our Bench that worries me more, we'll be two players down by then with no chance of a return due to ligament damage .. we need to have this match won by halftime before Wane gives the orders to do damage to our players otherwise it's season over ..

OR we can tire them out and put pressure on them, as winning at half time hasn't done us any favours in the past.

We just need to make sure we don't let ourselves get bullied out of the game. Play it our way for the full 80, kicking like we did against Cas, not getting sucked into Wigan's cheap shot, niggle-ridden style, we've got to dictate the pace and keep them frustrated. Now the Wire!

I think that this whole 'big nasty Wigan' thing is being completely exaggerated to be honest.
