....And so you finally answer the question to why people watch Union, or indeed any other sport that isn't Rugby League, or what people might consider dull.....

Quite obviously by the attendance figures, the majority of people who like 'rugby'.

Look, I've said before and I'll say it again...Comparing the two codes is pointless....Its like comparing Test Cricket & 20/20 Cricket....Both have a bat and ball, but are, for the most part, alien to one another.....So it goes for Union & League.

But you are comparing international matches only. Club games are a whole different proposition.

I must say I've never met a rugby union fan (ie someone who regularly plays the game and/or attends matches, not just someone who takes a passing interest in internationals) who goes on and on about rugby league in the same way [isome[/i league fans harp on about union.

What are some of you trying to prove? It's a different game and largely irrelevant to Warrington RLFC. If you like it sound, enjoy, if you don't (and I don't personally) then why go on about it?

I enjoy watching RU - though it`s restricted to England and Sale Sharks -why do RL fans feel the need to slag it off all the time it`s never done us any harm and provided us with great players like John Bevan and Jonathan Davies -why don`t we just grow up and research why RU games get more support and media coverage ...

i watch international matches, mainly the six nations. however i only watch bits of england. i prefer to watch wales and ireland as they seem to throw the ball about more.

The occasional RU game can be very exciting and sometimes its worth waiting for but overall its just a boring sport, who wants to go and watch 80 mins of kicking over the sticks seriously? Because thats all that happens at some games.

The quality at club level is shocking! When it gets to international level it gets better but its still poor unless your watching some of the best teams playing well. One of the England players couldn't even catch a ball all game last week.

Union is a more patient game, league is faster and more entertaining.

Me personally cant see the appeal in union, its boring

I suggest you might take the time to read David Hinchcliffe's wonderful book Rugby's Class War and re-consider your view. It will also assist in understanding why rugby union receives much more media coverage.

I hate Rugby Union, it bores me to death. The two sports are directly comparable and union fails majestically to be any where near as good.

Are league fans en masse political when it suits them? Highlighting the RL/RU class divide and bemoaning union media coverage that largely stems from the "old school tie" brigade in the right wing national press, but then happily singing "God Save The Queen" at internationals and cup finals.

What a load of rubbish.

There is nothing right wing in being patriotic. It is the hijacking of the God Save the Queen and the Union Jack by right wing political groups that we should protest against. This country was built on the blood and sweat of the working classes.

i can't watch it for 2 reasons
a- it's incredibly tedious
b-ruddy faced oxbridge types singing "swing lo"
yes just remembered there was a third reason,stuart barnes face at half time,he needs a good shoeing,oh yes the forward passes as well.
at the end of the day it's a different code of rugby and it's a case of whatever floats your boat.
