| Not quite mid. I'm still young enough to say that there's not yet been a Warrington captain that's younger than me.

| To be fair my memory of Boyd is vague, i've watched re runs of games in which i know i was there but it feels like watching a game for the first time as i have no recollection of the game. I was at the game at Maine Road, all i remember is the huge prison like fences at the front and the drop goal.

Can't quite remember a hookers name, signed from cronulla, missed a kick at wilderspool in his last game of the season from right infront of the sticks.

Without sounding patronising, if you had seen Boyd, you would realise he was about 10 times the player and influence that Danny Nutley was.
Any prop who can throw a dummy and sidestep a full back to score a try is something slightly special....

| Just Michael Monaghan in at hooker and Adrian Morley in at prop alongside Boyd.
the rest would still be mainly from the 86/87 sides plus John Bevan, and Jiffy.
Duanne Mann and Kevin Tamati to drop out of the starting line up which is quite a statement.
cant see that Brett Hodgson will ever replace Johno at fullback not as good defensively ,under the high ball, not as much pace, and would never score the tries Johno scored, but his link up play is better.
Should I drop Bob Jackson Or Mark Roberts in The second row for Ben Westwood, well I cant drop Jacko, and Mark Roberts is my James Dean, or Marilyn Monroe....... because he was so good and had his career cut short he never grew old or lost his pace, or lost his form...so he never got bad in anyones eyes... so Westwood should probably go in but I cant do it..... Roberts was hot.....

| I'm suprised that so many have included Brett Hodgson especially after only being here for one season, he's a good extra half back in attack and he's a first class goal kicker but as a last line of defence and defusing kicks he aint the best.
For greatest Wire fullback we should be looking at the likes of Brian Johnson, Steve Hesford and Derek Whitehead, i'm sure we've had other great fullbacks as well before those named above from different eras.

If it's Danny Farrar then he was from Penrith not Cronulla. He played for Penrith against us in the 1997 World Club Challenge, scored a try at Wilderspool if I remember. I think Sid Domic was in that team as well. Penrith had a young Craig Gower coming through so Farrar was available at the end of the season and DVDV signed him. From what I remember of Farrar he was superb in his first season (199icon_cool.gif, talked of as one of the contenders for Man of Steel at one point. In 1999 and 2000 he was OK, his knees had gone then so he was not much of an attacking threat but his defence was good. It caused a bit of bad blood that Farrar got a heroes reception in the final game of the season, when it was actually the farewell for Forster and Hilton as well and they didn't but we didn't know it was their last game at the time, so that wasn't Farrar's fault.

True, Derek Whitehead and Steve Hesford were a bit before my time but ive been told how good they were from some good judges. I saw a bit of Steve Hesford towards the end of his career including the famous Hesford goalkeeper leap to keep the ball in play from an opposition kick, i guess that was bred into the family with his brother being a goalkeeper, was it blackpool he played for ?

| I started watching Wire about 1959. Few names that seem to be missing ...
Bobby Fulton, Alex Murphy and John Bevan (do not confuse with "his dad" Brian Bevan). You can't leave these out. Bobby Fulton didn't play many games, Alex was passed his best (but he was a buzz of energy every time he got the ball), John Bevan was a great.

| lets be honest we shouldnt be putting Andrew Johns in any all time wire side no matter how good he may have been in the NRL.
He had one good game that brought our Game hype it had never had before.
But lets be honest Phil Blake, Jonathan Davies, and Alan Langer had all done miracle stuff time and Again for us long before Eddie Hemmings screamed "We are watching a genious tonight" .....when all He did was throw a short pass for Logan Swann to Score..... the type of Which Briers had done all season....
So thanks Joey ( I bought the T-shirt) but you dont get in my Wire team....

I have to agree with this.
I would have to have Steve Roach in my Warrington team if performances before joining Warrington count, he got rep honours and Danny Nutley didn't.
Martin Dermott would be a contender for hooker for his performances for Wigan and Andy Currier for his great performances for Widnes and Balmain Tigers.

its a fair point...but history shows Johns was a Warrington player....and for that reason one of the greatest half backs ever to play gets in my team.....Langer and Johns at half back would beat any team virtually on their own...with a serious platform of Morley Boyd Monas M Gregory Sculthorpe and Roberts...that half back partnership could take on the Aussie test teams from any decade.
