Yes, I referred to the Charnley incident being put on report earlier.



From what I remember, Charnley and McGuire were not isolated from the other players and someone must have heard what was said, but decided to avoid any involvement once the ref decided to put the incident on report.

Well I heard him shout " you are very slow for a winger" ( admittedly I was in my kitchen at the time) so I would guess he will get at least a 12 match ban.

As far as I'm aware it has to be an independent witness. Leigh players won't count as they're not impartial.

Not sure if I read it correctly but if he does get cited it won’t be dealt with till next week, he would be free to play at magic.

It was Charnley that confirmed that the ref had heard McGuire`s comments at the Disciplinary Hearing, and initially drew the ref`s attention to McGuire profanity.



Tom Amone was charged but although the ref heard the remark, he couldn`t be certain that Amone had made it.

Having watched the "incident" a few times ... if McGuire got a ban he might be the first ever to be found guilty of whispering sweet nothings in someone's ear.

Most of us could see McGuire allegedly said something to Charnley.

McGuire went for him and you saw him smiling following the incident.

This time it seems he kept it QT.

I thought the RFL requested Amone to give evidence on what McGuire said,,,and he reluctantly gave evidence against him.

No, the ref heard him.

No, Tom Amone was definitely charged, but got off, because although the ref heard a reply to McGuire`s cursing, he wasn`t sure that Amone had made the retort.

Why would there be loud noises from St Helens? No one saw a punch, so no one has called for a ban either. It's the correct decision, if there was no punch, there should have been no card. It throws another puzzling concern in about the process itself, but no complaints about the verdict. Good to see some phantom cards happening to other clubs. I think we've had four this season.

Now Tuesday has been and gone, Serious About Rugby League can confirm that the case will be considered by the Match Review Panel next Monday.

Putting aside whether you think the punishment does or doesn't fit the crime, if Maguire receives another similar length ban, then what's the point of paying him to spending 14ish games sat in the stand. Surely he would have to go, as there's zero possibility of the RFL changing the ban tariff in respect of such offences.

Hard to know what to make of it, to be considered by MRP next week, does that mean Leigh have registered a complaint or is the MRP just going to say NFA.

Something is very wrong about this, I mean why as it taken till Tuesday night to provide evidence that something was said. The game was Friday so if something was said by McGuire the proof was already there and should have been dealt with on Monday.



I’m no Columbo but I would be asking why take so long to say something I’d also be suspicious and think someone as been cohersed into corroborating a story. Just doesn’t sit right.

Due process I think. Leigh and the player(s) involved would need to decide of they wish to provide evidence, then draft a statement for the RFL and have that signed off by the legal team following the BH weekend?
