| Quote ="Wirefan"Monaghan and Clarke could be worse than Agar and Turner. How would we ever know?'"
Now is not the time to have doubts. This board has an outstanding record in undertaking detailed analysis on the smallest piece of circumstantial evidence. For instance, who would have thought that the conditioner could have been fingered from a completely innocuous picture in the WG ? And yet we tracked him down and outed him.
And then there is Agar - we all knew he was completely useless, even though nobody actually knows what he does, but we didn't have the evidence. Fortunately somebody spotted that he had a very poor track record before he joined us - conclusive proof that he is causing all the coaching problems.
And Finally Monas for coach - well, it's clear he would be outstanding for us because he was a great player, and we like him. Just because Les Cats ( sorry Cat) are having a poor season means nothing. In fact I can reveal the proof that he is a shoe-in for us lies in the fact that Monas has single handedly kept Les Cats (sorry again Catpis) out of the middle 8's.
Simple really.

| If it was me, I would try and surround the playing squad with 'winners' and people with a passion for the club. The squad of 2011 had so many strong leaders, with a winning mentality, I would make exceptions to get as many back as possible. Monaghan, Morley, Briers, King, Hodgson and even Clarke. Other than Chris Baron (who's absence is a major part of our failure this year IMP) I would happily swap out the staff for these people.
Agar is neither a winner or passionate about the club, so I can't see what he would add to a guy like J Monaghan. The respect just can't be there.
Smith at the top, with as many of these guys as possible in and around the the club, bringing that 'winning' culture to the place.
Not practice I know, but I can't carry on watching uninterested performances like the last few. I'll bust a blood vessel!

Well I know your reward is being able to read all the posts on our board, but hey, if we can't be polite as well, then we may just as well pack in and go home... which is exactly what I said to Roy Asotasi last week, funnily enough.

Briers has said he is still with the U19s next year so doubt he can be more than an assistant with the first team. Although having the Academy and the first team under one umbrella has been long overdue.

| Involved in this "discussion point" last night. TS has said that Lee needed the time away from the squad before coaching. Maybe he thought the same about MM ? Maybe Warrington needed to appoint somebody for one season without any chance of the job going any further. Who could they get to take this "nowhere" role................................... a mate of the boss ? Seems too contrived BUT is it any less believable than "Agar is the best we can get and is perfect for the role"

Brian Johnson or may have been Dorahy im not sure, tried this when he brought in ex widnes players from their championship winning squad...(but about 6 years later and not at the same time as we had Davies) Richie Eyres, Paul Hulme, Andy Currier.....at the time I thought we were trying to bring in "winners" but ....dog pooh the lot of em........
and Mike Monas coaching credentials dont even come close to Agars....Agar as an assistant at Hull won a challenge cup and got to an Old trafford Grand Final..... later as head coach he took Hull back for another Challenge cup final........
If they cant respect that but can respect a bloke that has been part of the staff that has taken Catalan backwards then wow.........therein lies the problem.....maybe we have some players that think they are world beaters but actually aren't.
the only positive "I can see" for bringing Monas on to the coaching staff is for Darryl Clark's benefit.....
no fan knows what an assistant does lets be honest but we have all been sucked in by half wits from Hull and Wakey who gloated when Agar signed for us that we would be relegated......etc etc.... we have believed it and have unfairly laid the blame at his door......
cant we just leave them numpties to the joys of Lee Radfords coaching prowess, and the great Brian Smith scraping wins against Leigh, and trying to avoid relegation. Id rather not take coaching advice from those sets of fans thanks...

| I have wrote on here previously regarding the presumption that good players will automatically make the transition to good coaches. See Garry Schofield et al.
For mine, we need a complete fresh start. What was exciting and uncontrollable a few years ago has now become stale and predictable.

| Oh Lord. Save us from the fan's favourites returning to coaching roles.
Id LOVE to know what exactly MM has achieved in the South of France, to warrant a triumphant return to the HJ, with scores of acolytes throwing rose petals at his very feet. Not much, eh?
I'm yet to see the positives re Briers running on to the pitch every set of six, to instruct GO'B on how to wipe his backside, yet he (GO'B) still gets it wrong.
Derbyshire and Chambers weren't exactly the Anfield Boot Room of the 70's/80's
It's no secret that our recent successes were a few years ago, under Smith and poaching, who had no previous attachment to ourselves.

I can't remember demanding the assistant to Van De veld, Anderson and Plange get the boot to sort out those dreadful sides,
We demanded the head coach to be sacked.... That's how it should be......if your team is bobbins you sack the top man.

| An interesting academic debate going on even with the token uncalled for agar bashing that creeps into every thread.
SJM and big Roge are no mugs. Problems with the playing squad have been identified and (hopefully) rectified. Problems with the coaching staff, if any, will follow suit. There's little point opening the cheque book to sign these guys if our coaching team are just going to ruin them when they get here.
If Agar gets let go then fair enough they think he's a problem. If he's still here next year then can we all finally drop it and accept he's not the one dragging us down?
Also back on topic - FWIW having MM knocking about in some form of coaching capacity is better than not having him knocking about. But he wouldn't be brought in as a number 2 to TS after just one year out of the game.

I am not suggesting for one minute SJM and big Roge are mugs. The problems with the playing staff have been longer than this season though (and I realise this was pre Big Roge)

| Taking the players as a given there have been three changes within the club as I see it.
1. Agar
2. Strength and Conditioning
3. Draper
One of those has sent the club on the pitch at least into turmoil

| No.2 has to be the perfect foil between the No.1 and the team.
Not necessarily a 'great' coach just the perfect balance/go between.

| A Number two with too much to say can have a negative effect on the team IMO . In the Cullen/Lowes days I heard noises that Lowes was Dismissing Cullens tactics at the end. Maybe / maybe not however , Lowes got the top Dogs job after Cul left and after a good start didn't shower himself in Glory.
