| Wait until he is back & you will hopefully (along with many others) see what he does bring to the side. He's not a darting hooker like Roby or Monas. He gets to the play the ball and puts the ball into the hands of the forwards to gain ground. He's an unfussy player who does the hard graft and unfancy stuff so the fancy guys can throw it around. His support play is excellent, something sorely missing while Myler is out and his tackling is solid. Maybe he isn't always 1st into the tackle, but he's the man who organises the defensive line. Don't underestimate his worth to the team & he will greatly improve the balance when he returns.

| The guy is good in defence, has an OK kicking game, but his passing from dummy half is just one dimensional. No creativity, no taking on the line whatsoever. We have two good hookers, we dont need three, sell him on, thank him for his time and invest in a solid loose forward.

passing from dummy half .....?
i'm comparing Monas higham clarke and Vinne Andersons in my head at the minute....
how do you work out Highams passing from dummy half is better than Clarkes...? plus what abouts Clarkes vastly superior kicking skills?
as Magic piano mentioned earlier his ability to "organise " the defensive line is overlooked by the "oh great look at that run from dummy half" brigade...
Clarkes a fine player and will be back in the squad no problem...
incidently Fans Favourite Danny Farrar that was on the pitch on Sunday NEVER ran from Dummy half

| Clarkes passes are obvious as hell to opposing defense, at least with Higham there is an ounce of creativity. With Higham you get options and away from the markers quickly, with Clarke you get a pass to a forward or a sh*t pass to a half back who then gets Boomed.

I seem to recall Farrar running from dummy half towards the railway end and slipping out a pass between a defenders legs for Forster to stroll over.

| From observations, Jon Clarke seems to be one of those players whose rating has a direct correlation with the raters IQ. The lower the apparent IQ the lower someone's opinion of Clarke. Its an inverse relationship to an extent with Higham. You see this all the time. Danny Lima was the perfect example. Mike Wainwright another but in the opposite way.

Spot on.
Clarke has been one of our finest servants of the Super League era. Unfussy, adaptable and constantly working to cover up his weaknesses. A calming influence on the field and the sort of player every team needs. If we get him back soon he'll be a key experienced head at the business end of the season.

in my opinion i think he has a preety good kicking game. On the comment of his passing i think he should mix it up a bit more but scooting doesnt seem to be his game. although i do remember him scooting and scoring from 40/50 metres against catalan( i think). Another part of his game i like is his support play hes usually their on hand to finish off tries

| Clarke is a superb squad player and will be back above VAnderson and Higham in the pecking order once all fit. He's far better than what he gets credit for.
He's not a hooker though in my opinion he is a loose fwd who can do a job at hooker and halves when required.

My IQ quota is 132 (at last test albeit a long while since) but I cannot see clark adding anything to this present team, unless Mr. Smith decides otherwise then I will bow to his judgement

Here we go with the Wedge debate. He has good points to his game, but he had his bad points too. In truth he was a player of average ability. Some people overooked his shortcomings in preference to his good points and vice versa. Even at his best he would get nowhere near the current Warrington 17.

Let me get this right, if you are not a huge fan of Clarke's you therefore have a low IQ? I think that says more about your IQ if you really believe that.

IQ like that and you can't even put a capital letter on Clark(sp)!!!!!
Clarke to me offers good depth and value for money to the squad in a number of positions . However I struggle to see where he merits a selection in the 17 for any given position although his greater versatility may get him the nod for a bench spot in front of a more specialised player.

75% of the Wire players since SL began would struggle to get into the current 17 despite what they offered at the time...

| Maybe Clarke would struggle to get in a fully fit 17, but that doesn't mean there is no room for him in the squad.
He's a handy utility player to have and I'd personally prefer to have him on the bench that Vinny Anderson.
At Leeds when we were without Monas, Myler and then Higham got hurt he would have been ideal to bring off the bench.
