We will most likely sign a 34 year old Aussie looking for a pension.

Do you even know what your talking about, i know we have signed a 24 year old BACK. im talking about a forward, my post was sarcastic about the fact we let a 22 year old prospect leave.

To be fair, does anyone know what they are talking about, particularly on a rumours thread?
To be honest, I'm a bit ambivalent about Savelio, he's offered the odd glimmer of light in a dull, dark season, but, he's hardly been sensational, all be it I would have liked to have seen more of him given our woes on the pitch. How much of that is down to him or TS I'm sure that there will be plenty of theories?
On reflection, I'd have been happier if he had been offered a two year deal (it still wouldn't have competed with two years in Aus), but, I would have been even happier if he'd nailed that contract extension more through performance than potential

Look at it this way though...
He's offered the odd glimmer of light in a dull, dark season when the mostpart of the team has been rank average at best. Imagine what he could achieve with some hard work and playing regularly in a team playing at their potential?

Agree with that, im just stunned a 22 year old kid who i would rather have over Hughes on current form cant get a decent contract here, its why i sarcastically said about the 34 year old pensioner coming as replacement lol.

| Andre has now got what he and his family have been chasing, a contract with an NRL club. It gets the family to the right side of the world at a top club in the best competition. Can only be good for them.
We could have got his services for another two years if we had wanted to. We obviously didn't, now we can think of who we would like as a replacement, were we not linked with Harrison Hansen

A contract in the NRL is all he's ever wanted, as long as the Brisbane offer was good enough, I don't think it would have mattered had we offered him 1 year or 3 years, he still would have been off.
As far as replacements go we will have to see who is available, Hansen doesn't really seem a great option. Justin Horo from Catalans is out of contract? He's probably the only UK based out of contract back rower I'd be ok with. He could bring Gigot with him.

This, chances are he's probably going to spending some time playing with chris sandow (provided he doesn't get booted out of the devils)

| On the Savelio front, is it possible that the club take the view that as Ben Currie is a million miles ahead of him and we have a number of other second rowers he just wasn't worth a further punt?

Are the following a million miles ahead of him;
Hughes
Jullien
Westwood
Wilde?
The 1st of which is contracted to 2019.

I didn't say they were. It is Currie who I said was. Do you dispute it?
In any event the others don't have to be a million miles ahead of him, just there or thereabouts to mean it's not worth splashing the cash on his deemed potential.

I agree with this.
If Westwood does retire this season I believe we need one or two second rowers with Serious grunt and mongrel. Savelio wasnt this, despite being billed as the next Sonny Bill Williams by his dad.
I dont believe Hughes is the player we are looking for either so i'm hoping we sign a half decent experienced back rower that doesnt mind doing the dirty work.
Hughes can then take Savelios shirt as being the occasionally used back rower.

| It would be daft to knock Savelio simply because he is both dynamic and still has the potential to develop further. But I suspect TS was faced with a dilemma; give him a 3yr contract at a decent salary (ÂŁ45k ?) on the assumption he will indeed realise that potential. Or to stick with Currie / Hughes / Julien as the prime choice BR with perhaps Livett and Wilde if injuries threaten the first choice. TS could probably offer Julien a rather modest package ( ? 2 yrs ÂŁ30k) simply because this is his first full year in the BR. And while Savelio / his mum / his manager seem very demanding (based on the Saints background), Julien by contrast appears far more willing to earn his place at the top (taking a share in student flat at Padgate for his first year).
As fans, we tend to just look at the ability of a player, but if we were managing we would also have to balance the salary cap between the squad and would also be much more aware of those players that are 'high maintenance' (e.g. Sandow).

| If a player is so self focussed as Savelio, is the club ever going to earn any allegiance from the lad anyway or will he always be on the look out for the exit door. Apparently,he has issues on & off the pitch & even though he looks good in occasional games most opposition coaches would work to shut him down.

| Roberts is only 26 (1991) and would be a great fit for us a he is a very controlling half a bit like Gale who guides teams round the field but has a bit of flare as well.
