Ratchford has done that at least twice. He looses the ball often easy because he carries so many in one hand.

| Quote ="Bunkaib"Get back under your bridge,
There was 2.5 minutes left and a long drop out wouldn't have gone to half way and would have eaten up the clock and a drop out from an easier position. It was for me a risky play but was worth a go.
It was Duftys housing that got the possession back. Also I thought that Dufty was one of the few players that came away with any credit when players couldn't be d to get behind the line so he could run out the tap from the 20 was shameful.
Lots wrong today but that for me wasn't even the key/worst moment of that match let alone a contender for worst play ever.'"
Spot on. The short drop was actually on; the ball just bobbled in a really unfortunate way which made it really hard to pick up when it crossed the 10.

Also would have been better if he didn't have two props either side of him, Williams would have been a better foil in that option

I recall Bridge doing something similar against Hull in the 2013 challenge cup semi final and they scored from it, Lineham going nearly full length of the field.
EDIT: Just seen it on YouTube. Good lord it's worse than I remember!

That's amazingly bad, it's about the equivalent of an own goal in football or as close to it as RL gets..

Nah I understand that decision. I feel like even if it was a normal drop out, they'd have made it back up in plenty of time to take the drop goal and we'd have lost anyway. At least he tried to get the ball back for us in that position. It didnt come off, then same result occurs regardless.

| Bev Risman in the 60's at Wilderspool had his shorts ripped off when he made a break and in the clear in just his jock strap. He bounced(literally) three quarters of the pitch to score the try.

More dignified than some of the apparel they wear under their shorts these days. Have you seen those garish, Jackson Pollock on speed in a Dulux factory briefs we keep getting an unwanted glimpse of?

| Billy slater heading into touch in the closing stages of the 2008 world cup final flinging the ball back in field for Benji Marshall to collect and score.
Or Brett Hodgsons pass to Matt King in an origin 3 decider (think it was 2006). The ball goes to ground. Queensland pick it up to score to win the series followed by winning the next 7 series.
Massive plays with huge consequences.

| Matautia running diagonally back into the opposition defence, when he has an unmarked winger outside him.
He did it again on Sunday.
Of all the incidents quoted, he is the only one that still repeats the same dumb play over and over again.

| I remember a game at Wakefield where we were 6 points up going into the last couple of minutes. Wakefield scored but missed the conversion, which should have sealed the game for us. Then we gave away a stupid penalty which gave them a chance to kick a penalty to salvage a draw. The Wire fans were absolutely furious. Steve McNamara was their goalkicker, and his kick didn't even make it to the posts. Unfortunately it made it to Dean Busby who tried to catch it but knocked on, a Wakefield player picked it up and scored, sealing the win for Wakefield.
There was another game which didn't involve us, but was in the Salford-Wakefield relegation decider the year Salford went down (and we narrowly survived with Cullen coming in at the end of the year). Salford got a penalty a couple of yards out, I can't remember exactly the scenario but think kicking a penalty would have been good for them at that point in the game. But they had a prop who had come over from the NRL who decided to take a quick tap and dive over the line for the try, but he knocked on in the process of taking the tap. Salford lost and that game was decisive in relegating them.

| I saw one where Clark was pulled up for a forward pass & Mat. popped back inside a few yards. Might be another one cos it didn't look anything like a chance to me.

| It's 25 minutes on the clock because of the way C4 do their clock in a countdown way.
It's not the best example because even though the overlap is there it Wire 40 so still a lot to do for Thewlis but it is pretty common Mata'utia thing he very rarely passes, I don't mind centres backing themselves but they at least need to get a good result or mix it up.

The problem with the Bridge thing was exacerbated by the fact that we weren't as far in front on the scoreboard that our earlier play and dominance deserved. That one score they were back in it and fully encouraged.

the semi final losses in 13 and 14 (14 especially) left me really dejected, the 14 one v leeds was bloody terrible, missed most of the first half in the beer queue due to inept organization, and then we kept killing ourselves with soft forward passes, during the game.

| I loved Bateman to bits, but in his early days he did have a habit of making a fantastic break but leaving the ball behind! (Don’t ask for specifics, my memory isn’t up to it!).

As good as Bateman was he never backed himself fully when he was through the line. He'd often get tackled whilst in two minds about passing (he rarely did) and would be looking for the pass when he'd have been better just putting the afterburners on. Wonderful player but I found him a little frustrating because I thought he could be even better.

I suspect this was the ingrained RU aspect where the worst sin was to be “isolated”!
