I used to stand near the tunnel at Wilderspool ,the smell of liniment didn't half clear the nostrils. I seem to remember a tea & Arrowsmith's pie kiosk at the corner of the main stand & Spion Kop.
Last time i was at Wilderspool was to watch the Wizards with my grandson.

Sometimes use to sit on them seats under the club, can’t believe even now how close to the pitch you was when sat there.

I guess you all refer to pondline corner as the small terrace under the hospitality boxes at the Fletcher st end?
As a child i stood in the Fletch but could never get a good view. Later moved to the open section (in summer) underneath the scoreboard. Maybe looking back with nostalgia but the place always made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when you got onto the terrace. Not wure what is was. I can't really say i've had the same feeling when entering the HJ. Wilderspool could look a bit of a dump but it was a traditional RL ground with lots of history so it had a bit of an aura about it. I don't remember changing ends much. Maybe once or twice.

I'm amazed I out-survived Wilderspool tbh.

2023 health and safety would have shut the whole site down instantly. Thankfully, we enjoyed it in a time when you didn't have to conduct a census to make sure you didn't offend anyone in the name of fun.

Wasn't there a toilet past the dugout, as you went towards the corner nearest the railway end? Have a vague memory of opening it and seeing a Workington fan going about his business! Scarred young me, that did!

Karl should bottle the "Eau de Wilderspool" being a vibrant essence of mushy peas, bad pies, stale bitter, rancid farts, belches, BO, putrid latrines and wintergreen. Retro is back in. Mind you the HJ stadium is slowly, but surely, deteriorating into Wilderspool.

It will never reach them dizzy heights while we have internet and phones.

I seem to remember they only had 2 or 3 military marches that would play on the wind up gramophone as pre match entertainment.

Some of the gentlemen I stand near in the South Stand just need a bit of Deep Heat and they are there!

Hmm I only remember old grannies at the games or maybe I was just so young

I used to go in all areas of Wilderspool including the old and new stands. And did a few seasons at pond corner where the clients were very level headed knowledgable guys.
The best thing that happened was putting the gate in to prevent the yobs running round the ground to start fights.

And there was a bog there at the side of the stand tho many folk ed against the corrugated fence.

The trains used to slow down to get the score to pass it on at the station
