| All this reflects pretty badly on Amor. Powell asked him to come in and add some experience and leadership to the group which he knew full well were struggling. I think I recall he got injured early on and only made a few appearances after that making minimal contribution and then asks to put youngsters in as he didn’t fancy it. Not very professional and clearly let Powell down when he needed strong support in a very difficult situation.
We’ll best of luck at Widnes….hope they are not relying on him too much. Looking forward to his punditry and comments next time we are on TV when Vaughan, Harrison, McGuire and Bullock show him how it should be done.

I can draw parallels with a point in my career.
We were a capable team who could typically be relied upon to deliver. A new manager was appointed who had little experience of our side of the business and when he came in rather than taking a little time to understand the job and people, he tried to teach us to suck eggs and got peoples backs up. So whilst we 'did the job', the atmosphere was poor and not many would 'go the extra mile'.
Was that the managers fault? Was than the fault of individuals within the team?
Both.
And I think that could well have been the situation last year - with the added complication that many knew they wouldn't be here next year..'"
Your analogy collapses immediately, simply because the team in question here were a bunch of underachievers, with a record of failure and proven regularly to be far from capable.

I understand your point, but we sometimes hold professional sportsman to a higher standard than those in other professions.
Only a select band can win trophies and we had that - whilst not being at the same level as Saints, Wigan or Leeds in the last decade.

We had a team that had failed miserably for 3 years, but apart from that.....

We were knocked out of the play-offs at home for 3 consecutive years.
The teams that beat us were neither Saints, Wigan nor Leeds.

It's been a right old mixed bag but definitely a downward trend since we beat Saints at Wembley in 2019.
2016 - GF runners up, Challenge cup runners up.
2017 - In the middle 8s.
2018 - GF runners up, Challenge cup runners up.
2019 - out of playoffs at first round, Challenge cup win
2020 - out of playoffs at first round
2021 - out of playoffs at first round
2022 - didn't make playoffs, one place off relegation.
It's been a tough time and I can't help feeling the problems had been coming a long time - which is strange as Price knew what footy team he had all the way through ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

Add a comment to the 'pundits' thread and perhaps put a name forward for someone you rate?

| i've no problem with what amor said, its only because he's an ex saints player, and because he's saying it now, when we're playing well that ppl are getting their back up.
There were rumours around last year that he'd walked out/been pushed out after calling our squad ridiculous and unprofessional, if he'd come out and said this last year, when we were all thinking that, no one would have a problem with it.

I agree only to a point. Walking out of a bad environment is more honest than staying put and refusing to play, which is what is being suggested here.
I won't pretend being an ex Saints player gives him a rosy tint in my eyes, but I did think that by any measure he came across as very bitter in his commentary last week and mickeyed off when we came back.

| Poor Kyle's Widnes took a hiding off League 1 Dewsbury today, so perhaps another side he has given up playing for.
